Both your genetics and the environment you live in have an impact on your health. The quality of the air you breathe in daily can impact your health. Mold, dust, and secondhand smoke can lead to issues such as asthma and cancer (pg 2). The water you are drinking can also impact your health. Water that has lead or any other chemicals in it can cause issues to the brain, nervous system, and blood (pg 3). Your heredity also plays a big role in your health. You can get a genetic disorder that was passed down to you from your parents due to a genetic mutation. These disorders can be something that you receive, like down syndrome, or it can be something you are a carrier of, like Cystic Fibrosis (pg 4).

My friend was recently diagnosed with both an allergy to mold and asthma. Because her house is pretty old, some of the rooms have mold; one being the bathroom. Her bathtub has a fair amount of mold, which has caused her to break out in hives and have a difficult time breathing. The doctors told her she wasn't allowed to take baths in that bathtub anymore because the warm water in the tub for such a long time was causing the mold to get into the air and into her body worse than a shower would. This impact was negative because she now has to carry around an inhaler with her and she has to be cautious to make sure she doesn't come into contact with mold.
