The Tamil Tigers reacted strongly by impeding the Sri Lankan army in 1983 at Thiruneivail and killed 13 government soldiers. This led to the government joining the Indian military group and launched the LTTE members. This affected most of the Tamils who lived in the North and did not participate in the LTTE. Later in 1989, the LTTE moved to the East since the military had taken over most of the Northern areas and was ready to kill the opponents. More than 2500 Tamils were killed in violence when the country fell into chaos and the Tamil Tigers were stopped with new recruits. Weapons, food and money began to flow into LTTE's warehouse from sympathetic tamils in Southern India. Several times, the Norwegian authorities came to Sri Lanka, got to talk about ceasefire and agree on disagreements. At the same time, the government stated that LTTE could not have its own area. The conflict was bloody, about 40000 civilians were killed. In the year 200, the government succeeded and defeated LTTE. In the end, innocent Tamils continued living while LTTE was stopped.

When Sri Lanka gained independence in 1948, ethnic tamils were denied civilianship. Over 300,000 Tamils were deported by the Sri Lankan government. The Tamil language was banned, Buddhism became the current religion over Hinduism, and Tamil countries were colonized by Sinhala settlers. In Sri Lanka, 99% of the population is reliant. The government's restrictions on Hinduism led to hard tamil setbacks. Discrimination against Tamils and their desire to form an independent nation were not taken seriously by the government. These ethnic, linguistic and religious differences are the major reasons why such a conflict began. The Tamils felt it was unfair that a Tamil country is being colonized by Sinhala settlers. Therefore, they began to create LTTE, a militant tamil group promised to create an independent state in the north and east of the country for ethnic tamils.

The Civil War in Sri Lanka was an armed conflict. At the beginning of 1983, there was a periodic rebellion against the government of Tamil Eelam Liberation Rifles (LTTE), which fought to create an independent Tamil state called Tamil Eelam in the North and East of the Island. After a long military campaign lasting almost 26 years, the Sri Lankan military managed to defeat the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) in May 2009, bringing the Civil War to an end. This conflict has been relevant recently, as it lasted for a long time and brought strong reactions to the civilians in the country.
LTTE tried to scare the government that they would become a larger group with more Tamil followers supporting their views.
