Her parents are two dancers, the father is a Russian dancer of ballet, and the mother a Spanish dancer of ballet, they meet them in Lyon Opera Ballet. After, when Zenaida was born, they go to live in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. In 1993 she won the gold medal at the Eurovison  Dancers Competition and in 1994 the gold medal at the  Jackson Internacional Ballet Competition. In the autumn of 1994, having left the Paris Opera Ballet earlier on in the year, she joined the Royal Ballet.
