         <description><![CDATA[<div>I use Quizlet for ages, both for my own languages studies, and also with my students, to whom I created word lists.  Memerize is nice, but I prefer Quizlet.  <a href="http://Vocabulary.com">Vocabulary.com</a> is another great tool.  One of my professor taught us about corpus and the way we can use VocabProfilers, so generally speaking, I am familiar with many of the sites and tools Mr. Brown mentions in his lecture.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I was already familiar with many of the statistics Charles Brown mentioned in his presentation - as well as with Quizlet, a site I use weekly in my classes.  However, it was great to have a refresher and rethink some things I haven't thought about in a long time.  And while I know that word lists such as these exist - and sites to "grade" texts in terms of their difficulty, I was unaware of the NGSL and the specific sites he presented.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Technically, we are required to teach about 3000 words over the period in which students are in school.&nbsp; Assuming we talk about 10 years, it means about 300 words a year, which is not very plausible in elementary school, and thus, students arrive JHS lacking (sometimes) even basic vocabulary.&nbsp; An effective method for acquiring vocabulary is needed, one that can be used while learning any language, and this is the one thing I would like to know.&nbsp; The second thing is whether there's one method to teach the right way to pronounce English words, a method&nbsp; that covers about 85% of the words, one that is not based on prior listening or using a dictionary in order to find out a word's IPA writing.&nbsp; BYW:&nbsp; There isn't, but why stop hoping.</div>]]></description>

I had Japanese roommates in college and though my spoken English was better than theirs,  their written English and their vocabulary seemed to be at a very high level.
