Por ejemplo en sus Limerick, se dicen tonterías, perogrulladas, exageraciones o, lisa y llanamente, mentiras, cosa que también ocurre con las coplas en Hispanoamérica. En el Zooloco, la autora dice: "Los chicos y la gente sencilla se divierten mucho con estos juguetes hechos de palabras, por eso se me ocurrió intentar hacer algunos limerick en castellano. Mentiras: no se me ocurrió nada. Los limerick se aparecen de pronto, como un bicho en la punta del lápiz, y se ponen a corre por su cuenta sobre el papel."
