To better my own teaching as well as share knowledge I have with others, I have collaborated with my grade level team and specialized teachers.

I collaborate with my colleagues and peers almost every day. Every Monday morning, we have a set time where we meet as a 5th grade team to discuss planning and upcoming events. At these meetings we decide what we are going to teach, share ideas, and plan for field trips. Loryn and I collaborate to co plan lesson and make sure our content is aligning with each other. 

At my current placement, I have had the unique experience of collaborating with the E-Lab teaching to make sure my science instruction aligns with their E-Lab learning. We meet and discuss where we are at in the content and sequence lessons so they can connect and build off each other. This helps students dive deeper into the content and strengthen their understanding. 

I have also attended PLCs where we have dived into the topic of racial inequity. As a grade level team we looked at data that showed how our white students were outperforming our students of color. We discussed this data and other issues we see at our school.

Special education can be very secluded which has its positive, but also a lot of negatives. As a result of this seclusion, I did not have. chance to really form or strengthen many relationships with colleagues.

At C.A. Frost I feel like most things I do are a result of a collaborative effort. I have collaborated more in this one placement than I have in both of my other placements combined. As a result, I have formed positive relationships with a lot of other teachers and even administrators. Collaboration really strengthens these relationships because we work together so closely to make sure all students are getting a great education.

The slides and content that were already made for social studies were not engaging or set up for deeper understanding. They were all made during virtual learning. Although it is a lot of extra work, I have worked hard to make most lessons from scratch for social studies. My lessons allow students to explore the content and engage with it on a deeper level through partner work and investigating. 

I have also been heavily integrating technology into my classroom. My integration of technology serves to engage students as well as prepare them for middle school. I use tools such as kahoot, peardeck, and jamboards to engage students. I have been utilizing seesaw and google classroom to prepare my students for middle school.

To be a positive role model for my team I remain positive and I remain ahead. Although I do think positivity can turn toxic, I do think it's important to always keep an open mind and believe in yourself and believe in your students. I also stay on top of lesson planning and always have my lesson plans for the following week done the Thursday before.

To lead a classroom you need to be responsible, supportive, communicative. I also think that leadership is an important way to get involved with the community.
