The students receive an opportunity to work together throughout these activities. They are constantly working in groups and pairs etc. They are mainly working in groups of four for the theory based questions and then in teams for some of the activities. While their diaries are an individual based project they still receive ample opportunity to work with others. Their presentation asseessment is also completed in a group of four. I have strauctured the activities in such a way as I believe working with others is a very important skill and one which all students should experience.

The students are constantly communicating with each other throughout both activities. With regards the theory work they must communicate to ensure that they develop answers to the questions and activities that they are completing. the students must also communicate with each other during the practical sessions. While the two activities may have some individual work present the aspect of communicating with each other is extremely prominent. Overall, this is a very important skill and one which students must use in both activities to ensure successful completion occurs.

Being Personally Effective

Being Personally Effective is certainly a skill used in these activities. The students are being taught about a topic that can be quite controversial. People often have their mind made up on such a topic as gender. Therefore these activities help students to develop their own opinion in relation to the information presented to them. In particular, activity 1 presents this skill, as the students receive an opportunity to practically experience the theory. The videos presented to the students are also very powerful in my opinion. I believe that if looked at deeply they could have a tremendous effect on the students. Lastly, the diary should have a personal effect on the students. From this diary they should be able to idenitfy their opinions on such topics and how they are influenced etc.

Critical and Creative Thinking

The students must think critically throughout both activities. This is particularly evident in acivity 1 when they must develop factors that may influence boys and girls participation in sport. They will then receive an opportunity to expereince these in the lesson in which they must idenitfy such factors. The students must be creative throughout especially in their assessments where they must present to the class what they have learned throughout the activities. This enables the students to engage with their creative side.

Information Processing

The students are constantly using this skill throughout both activites. They are constantly asked to use their brain to complete the activities. This is also evident in the presentation at the conclusion of the term where the students must present what they learned from the class. In addition, the learning log provides the students with an opportunity to log their learning as they progress through the term. The students must constantly use their brains throughout and therefor I believe this skill of information processing is very important.
