The events of the last two weeks have riveted the USA (my country) and sent shockwaves across our world for peace and justice. I have felt anger and sadness as I have watched events unfold, and I feel for the victims and perpetrators of this terrible violence - here in the USA, the Holy Lands, and across our world. This time reminds me of why I believe God called me to be a peacebuilder, and I take my response of "yes" as an oath to live out this calling.

Just now, I discovered a powerful speech from the late Robert F. Kennedy on the night that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. My thoughts on the current situation

Knowing that has been always apart of the world and you can find it everywhere, it makes me real sad this is our world and people are the cause for it
But when i watch the news now or see what is happening on social media, I'm glad , and not because of the violence ,no , but it's because the people are finally standing up and demanding a change they are fighting against the injustice in the hopes of making a difference
And being apart of the young generation that is gowing up in this world that has been infested with corruption, this is the change i want to happen because if not now then it will never happen and if not us then no will
I hope that things will change to the batter my Faith in people is not gone yet

I kept reading everything I could about the murder of Iyad. I wanted to find an explanation but of course there was not. The more I read the greater the injustice appeared. I wish everyone could read about this tragedy and understand how cruel the situation is and how innocents are the victims of the Israeli oppression.

I felt helpless and I wanted to say sorry. This situation has become so absurd. In the same time I think about the person who shot him. I don’t think he will ever forgive himself.

I decided to stop watching tv and the news because I feel that everyone is biased and that they don’t show the real picture.
On social media I saw more nuances and even so positive stories of people standing up together against racisms and hatred. I wish more people could be exposed to the truth.

What can people do? What could we do to make a positive change?

I’m afraid to speak because I feel that we don’t speak about the whole picture. Of course what happened is a tragedy but the situation is not a black and white situation. It’s not like a movie with good guys and bad guys.

With everything that is happening in all directions, I feel overwhelmed. It’s hard to give the 100% attention each issue deserves. I want to learn all I can and educate my self on the topics: police brutality, violence against women, unjust systems both in the US and in Israel, the corona pandemic and more. I unfortunately am not a super human so I must tackle these issues gradually, slowly, one by one. I have said this before but I do feel a certain sense of hope regarding the situation in the US. While there are problematic and unjust institutions, I have seen that the majority of the people are not unjust. Actually it’s quite the opposite: they are fighting against the corruption. Sadly I cannot say that this is true in Israel. The prejudice and unethical systems that are our country’s foundation are backed up with a majority of people that don’t believe in change. Whether they don’t believe change is possible out of habit or whether they don’t want change for their own security- there isn’t only an institutional problem but a problem with the values we as a people have. And that leaves me very frustrated.

Im really sad the world is getting worse and worse how can a human being kill somone like this like goerge like eyad i cant undrestand how they have this hreat to see them die infront of them its heart breaking  . Im glad i went to jpb because there you at least try to understand the other side and try to build peace with the others im glad but still we have to try harder about the topic how can we end racisim i want to find the answer i want to start amd work on this really hard because someone has too because it become all worse then this but  i have hope that one day we are going to end this violnce this racisim

I'm in a very hard state where my heart hurts for the people who are getting hurt. But I'm also so happy that so many people are standing for others not just black people stand for black, not just Palestinians who are standing for Palestinians it's all of us vs. rasicm and injustice. This war is about peace, I wont ever believe in peace if I wasn't in jpb. Jpb gave me hope for a better future and I'm so glad that my mindset is positive. And hopefully the racism gets smaller, the killing stops and the hate will be gone. #fightforjustice
