ცყ:ⓋⒺⓇⒶ🤣🐓🍚
A Meal To Remember “your favourite chicken rice is waiting for you!”Quipped dad pointing at a stall in front of them.Ashton was so happy as he was craving chicken rice and he knew they sold the best chicken rice in town, since they were so popular there was a very long queue but it was still worthwhile as their chicken rice is one of the best.
After around twenty minutes it was finally their turn to order, they ordered their food and quickly found a table to sit at as it was very crowded there. As they were eating, an elderly lady came to their table with many packets of tissue paper and said” one packet for one dollar, please buy I am homeless.”She said at the top of her voice. Ashton immediately looked up to see who it was, he then realised that it was an old lady who was trying to get people’s attention to buy tissue paper. “Dad, why don’t we help her? She looks like she’s really in need of our help.”he asked hopefully looking into his dad’s eyes. But he refused as he isn’t the most unselfish person. Once they were done eating, they took their trays and placed it at the nearest tray collector. As they were going to leave the hawker centre they saw an old man eating food scraps from someone’s meal that had not been finished. They were incredibly shocked by this and asked puzzledly “ may we know what you are doing?”The old man replied back with a dull on his face”I have been doing the same thing for almost two years already, I have a Wife that is very sick and I have no money to bring her to the hospital, so I have no choice but to come here everyday to collect other people’s leftover food to stay alive.”Their jaws dropped and Ashton’s dad went to the old man and gave him some money to be able to eat proper food that they both could enjoy together. The old man was overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness and profusely thanked them for their good deeds. They were happy that they did something good and will always remember this meal.

Kimberley) I could hear the people around me talking as I walked closer to Hougang Food Court. I saw many brightly coloured packets of tissue paper waiting patiently( for their owners to come back) on round tables, people carrying food trays containing mouth watering food and people carrying plastic bags full of appetizing dishes. I smell the delicious smells of food cooking. I was only there for one reason and that is to bring home three containers of porridge from my mom's favourite stall. The reason I went to Hougang Food Court was that my mom was recently diagnosed with a sickness that causes muscle decay called, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Filled with grief, my mom shut herself from me as she was scared out of her wits if I caught the disease. The last thing she wanted to do was me to get the same disease. I asked my dad not to cook lunch and whether or not I could go buy lunch with the money I've been saving. Relieved my dad said it was okay(my dad hated to cook and for the past few days we ate either instant noodles or porridge with omelette ) After I bought the porridge ,I headed to path back home. As I walked towards my home, I could hear my steps, a warm feeling in my heart .The entrance was coming closer and closer, I stopped in my tracks as I saw what I thought I would never ever see, an emaciated old lady carrying two large bags of newspapers and cans, holding up her palm counting money .The old lady turned her head towards me and slowly walking towards me. Paralyzed by fright, I stood there rooted to the ground. Very soon she was standing before me. I was as pale as a vampire, my arms shaking with fright, thoughts raced through my mind ,'Why was she walking towards me?" The old lady opened her mouth, a crooked voice sounded my ears "Girl, don't abandon your parents like my son did ." she said" I was a single mom, my husband abandoned me with my son, I hated him for that. For years I've worked hard to get my son a proper education. He was a smart boy he was, always came back with good results .He went to Cambridge and became a lawyer . He married a noble man's daughter when he was 27." Hearing this story touched my heart, I decided that I will buy the old lady lunch. "Stay here." I told the old lady . I rushed to the nearest stall to buy food for the old lady .After I bought the food, I ran towards the old lady, "Here "I said as I handed the food to the old lady." Oh my. thank you so much ." she said "Here." Bringing out her hand to hand to hand a few coins. I refused and pushed her hand back. I waved good bye. When left the food centre, I had a smile from ear to ear. This was certainly was a meal to remember.

An old wrinkled lady selling tissue paper caught my eyes. She was going table after table asking people to buy her tissues. However, they rejected. She approached our table but he rejected."Daddy why don't we help her,"I pleaded him but he still rejected. She left. There was two people that had finished their meal and left without without putting away their tray.Suddenly, an old man came to their table. I thought he was just waiting for his food so it did not cross my mind. I Finished my food and stood up to put my tray away when I saw the old man doing something unusual. The old man was scraping leftover food into a plastic container. "What are you doing uncle?" I could not help but ask. He answered with a depressed look,"my wife is very sick and I have no money to send her to the clinic so at night I collect boxes and I have to pack leftovers,".I could not believe my ears and turn to my father to ask him to help. However, he was not there! He went to the old man and handed him a fifty dollar bill, a packet of chicken rice and porridge that they are going to have for dinner. The old man profusely thanked him and was grinning from ear to ear. Both my father and I was proud of our self for doing a good deed. We will always remember this meal.

I began stuffing my face with chicken rice. Not long after, i saw an old lady carrying a hot bowl of soup noodles. She looked like she was having trouble carrying her bowl. I asked dad whether I could leave my seat to help her carry the bowl. However, he said, " No. Finish your chicken rice first." A few seconds later , I saw that the person beside me did not finish his meal and then left. A old man went to the plate. I thought he was there to clean it but I saw him pick up the food to put it in a plastic bag, leaving the plate on the table. I could not help but ask him what he was doing. He explained that his only daughter married a rich man, then left her mum and Dad, so he was picking up the leftovers to feed his wife and himself. Seeing that he was so poor , Dad gave him ten dollars. The old man refused but dad insisted. The old man said thank you to Dad and i then left. Not long after, I noticed that Dad was missing. I looked all around for him then I saw him helping the old lady from earlier carry her soup noodles to our table. It was a meal to remember.

I immediately responded with a ' Yes dad!' and ordered four packets of chicken rice, two of which me and my father where eating in. When my father finally found us a place to sit in the sardine-packed hawker center, I gulped down my food like hungry wolf, the taste of the delicious white chicken made me gulp down my food even faster. About half way into my meal, I noticed a thin, short boy that was in a shady corner of the hawker center staring straight at my meal with drool coming out of his mouth. I stood up abruptly from the table, taking my half-finished plate of chicken rice, the two packets and walked over to the boy. I put the food onto the floor in front of the boy and calmly said "You need it more than I do, don't you?" the boy nodded quickly before saying a few words of thank you and running away with the food. The way he gratefully looked at me is something I'll never forget, it is a me I will always remember.

After hearing everything that Dad had told him, he waited patiently for his favourite chicken rice to be here when his father went to get his own food. Finally, Tom had heard the waiter calling his number so he went to get his food. He quickly took his own tray of chicken rice and plopped on the table, his father was also done buying his own food. So the both of them ate together happily. Once they have finish their own food, they went to the nearest tray collector to put back their own tray, they saw an group of people left with their own food not eaten finished. Suddenly, an old man just came to the table and started using a plastic to do something unusual. At first Tom thought that the old man was trying to clear up the table with the plastic bag so after that he can sit down wait for somebody, but he was actually trying to scrape the remaining food into the plastic bag than clearing it up. Tom was so shocked by this, so Tom told his father everything about the old man that he saw just now. Both Tom and his father's could not believe their ears, also their jaws dropped. After they have heard about the uncle's wife and himself, Tom's father decided to help the old man by giving him a $100 note so that he can bring his wife to see a doctor and to buy their own things. Anyway, that was why Father had brought me to this hawker center. I was allowed to buy anything I wanted.

When we arrived, the hawker center was as crowded as shopping malls on New Year’s Day. Fortunately, when we reached we immediately spotted an empty table perfect for us to sit. When we were just about to sit down, a boy threw a piece of paper on the sit and claimed that he had ‘choped’ it but his parents apologized and said that we could sit on it. When we thanked them and sat down, we realized that the table could fit the other family too. Father stood up and told them that we could sit together. After sitting down, I went and squeezed through the throng and went for the chicken rice stall.

As I queued, I squinted to see my father through the crowd. Just then, an old lady walked up to my father and held out a stack of tissue papers.By then, I had bought my food and was walking back to the table. I heard the old lady say that it was 3 packets for a dollar.I watched helplessly as my father kept shaking his head and rejecting her but she just continued to plead him to buy those few packets of tissue. My father simply shook his head again. My father and ate and ate.Soon, the people eating at the table beside us stood up and left.

After a while, an old and frail looking man came and held a plastic container. At first, I thought he was going to clear the table but in the end he swept all the leftover food into it.

He looked up and said to me , :”Girl, when you grow up , you got to help your parents all the time and be obedient, okay?”he started “Don’t be like our daughter, she grew up living in a poor family with us and she used to be a nice and obedient girl. But now she is too embarrassed to even see know us.She got married to a billionaire. She abandoned us but in the past we worked hard from early in the morning to late nights collecting cans, magazines, newspapers and even plastic containers to give her a good education and to support us but now she is just an ungrateful girl .” he said in his wrinkled voice.Immediately, I pitied him. My father gave him a $50 dollar note but the old man rejected it. Father insisted that he’d have it so the old man gratefully accepted.

I continued eating my food and soon I looked up and saw Father buying a dozen packets of tissue papers. We both had a great time this afternoon and was over the moon that particular afternoon. My father and I,Victoria had done a very good deed that day. We were grinning from ear to ear all the home.We told mother all about it. We were super proud of ourselves.I learn that helping people in need is very good indeed.

~The End~:):p

Proudly Written By:Kayleen wong Jia Ai

P4 Affable

A meal to remember by Yuhui
“ Dad I’m starving!” John whined as he looked into the freezer. “There should be food in the kitchen,” said dad as he came into the kitchen to look. “Ohh! We are already out of food!” Dad exclaimed as he scanned the whole kitchen, “Let’s eat out then!” Without saying a word, John ran into his room to change.
A cool breeze caressed my cheeks as we entered the food court, the whole food court was as packed as sardines , there was no empty seats left. We waited for five minutes before getting our seats . Two seats away was the chicken rice store “ I want to eat chicken rice !”John was craving to get chicken rice for a long time as chicken rice was his favourite food. When dad returned back to his seat with his plate of food ,John had almost finished his chicken rice just like a hungry wolf.
Suddenly John saw a figure coming to their table , the figure asked us whether we wanted to buy a packet of tissue.John looked up, suddenly, a twenty pound sledgehammer hit me - it was an old woman , the old woman looked at us “1 packet for 1 dollar!” the old woman spoke in a weak voice , “No , thanks !” Dad replied back . When the old woman left John asked dad “Dad why did you not buy the tissue packets from the old lady , she really need a lot . John looked where was the old lady was going ,he saw the old lady going from table to table but not a single person bought from her. When we finished eating , John saw an old man taking a plastic bag out and scrapping off the unfinished food . John was shocked and pointed to dad “Dad look at what the old man is doing !” John was so shocked that his eyes were nearly popping out, dad saw what the old man was doing and dashed over to him. “ Hey , do you need help!” Dad asked as he brandished a one hundred dollar note to the old man ,the old man saw the money and refused to take the one dollar note . They pushed the one dollar to each other, finally, the old man took the note “ Thank you !” The old man thanked dad profusely.
John saw dad going over to the old lady and bought a dozen of tissue packets. When came over to me ,he handed me the whole packet “Looks like we don’t need to buy any more tissues !”dad joked as we stepped out of the food court. In the end , John learned to always help people in need and he was glad that them help the people in need . Every time John stepped into the food court , he always remembered what had happened ,it was a meal to remember !

After about fifteen minutes, it was finally Tom's turn to choose what he wanted to eat. Suddenly, there was an old lady that came up to ask in a very gentle tone of voice if they wanted to buy any tissues. Without another thought, Tom's father replied, "No, thanks!'Tom was glad that his father would quickly answer for him because he is a very timid boy.Tom found a table for them to sit at and eat their meal.. Tom saw an old man pouring the food from the plates into his plastic bag . He pointed out the old man to his father and both of their mouths dropped in shock. Tom's father quickly went up to the old man with a fifty-dollar note in his hand and asked the old man what he was doing. The old man said that his wife was sick and he did not have a job and has no money to buy any food so he is picking up the leftovers from other people.By hearing his story he quickly placed his fifty dollar note in the old man's hands but the old refuses to take the money and said"You are a good person so you deserve the money." and left.Tom borrowed money from his father and quickly went up to the old lady and bought a dozen packets of tissue. It was a meal to remember at the food center Tom felt happy because he was able to help people that are in need.

"Dad, can you get me a plate of chicken rice? I'm starving!" I whined as the aroma of chicken rice filled my nostrils. "Alright, stay here," answered Dad as he got up from the seat. "It's not like I can go anywhere," I joked. Dad chuckled and head for the chicken rice store which had a snacking queue.
After what felt like an eternity, Dad came back with two piping hot plates of chicken rice. The moment he gave me my plate, I gobbled it up like a barbarian.
When I was about to finish my chicken rice, an old lady trudged to us with some packs of tissues. She had a wrinkled face and a hunched back and was desperate for money. "Would you like to buy some tissues? One of them cost twenty cents. Please buy some, even a pack would do," She asked weakly as she waved a few packets in front of Dad and I. Dad rejected the old lady but she kept staying to beg, until she realised her begging was not helping and she left with a disappointed look on her face.
Not long after, a frail looking man limped to our table with a red plastic bag in his hands. He wore a torn shirt and a pair of shoes which looked like it had been patched a million times. I could not help but stared at him in bewilderment. He was scooping up leftovers from the previous customers. It seemed like the old man had caught me staring at him as he turned to face me and said, "When you grow up, don't abandon your parents. Take care of them no matter what it takes. Our son left my wife and I after he was married to a rich woman. Now, my wife is sick and we have no money to afford the bills, so I come here to get food to feed us everyday." Pitying the poor old man, Dad slipped a fifty dollar note from his pocket and handed it to him. Gratefully, the old man told us we could keep it but Dad insisted on giving it to him so he accepted it and thanked us profusely before leaving.
Suddenly, I realised Dad was missing. I squinted my eyes through the crowd and finally saw Dad buying fifteen packs of tissue. He then came back and passed the packs of tissue to me. "I had the chance to be kind, so I did," Dad explained as we left the hawker centre.
As we were leaving, I felt sorry for all those homeless people in the world. This meal was a surely a meal to remember. A little care and concern can go a long way.
