Berry Pomeroy is a village where around 1,000 people currently live. Its main attraction is the castle, which is said to be the most haunted castle in England. The building is a Tudor-style mansion built within the walls of an ancient castle.
It stands on a rise in the ground and overlooks a deep, narrow, wooded valley.

Once thought to be of Norman origin, the castle was in fact begun during the later 15th century by the Pomeroy family. Within its defences, the Seymour family built a modest early Elizabethan mansion, and from about 1600 they extended this on a palatial scale, intending to create a great house to rival Longleat or Audley End. But their overambitious project suddenly foundered for lack of funds, and by 1700 the castle was an abandoned shell

White Lady and Blue Lady.

The first of these flies from St. Margaret's Tower to the ramparts, roaming the dungeons and seeming to beckon to anyone who sees it. They say it is the spirit of Margaret Pomeroy which her sister locks up in the dungeons jealous of her beauty.
The Blue Lady does not have a fixed area to make her appearances and tends to attract people to certain parts of the ruins. It seems that it is the ghost of the daughter of one of the Norman lords of the castle who was raped by her father. Legend has it that she carries death in her eyes.

Castillos Embrujados. Un GRITO SOBRENATURAL en el castillo de Berry Pomeroy.
