Since I was a kid, I've held onto this beautiful dream of going to Iceland and catching a glimpse of the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis. I have often imagined how incredible it would be to stay in a glass igloo beneath the twinkling Arctic sky with my husband Travis beside me. We had the trip all planned out but 2020 happened. When I think of one essential item to bring on any journey my first thought is my chapstick, I like the aquaphor mini. I never leave to go anywhere with out my cleaning cloth for my eye glasses. My phone is almost always in my hand at all times and next to me like a teddy bear at night. If I had to pick only one item it would have to be my travel purse, it holds all these things and my emergency snacks, iPad, kindle, journal, Nintendo switch you know just the basics.

I have never thought about leaving this country to be honest. I am not much of a traveler. I prefer camping, but non-the-less I had to think about this for this assingment. I think if I had to travel I would go to Ireland. My grandmother moved to the United Stated from Ireland in the mid 20's. I have a ton of family there. I would love to meet them and see where my grandmother was born. I also would love to see the goregous flowers and country side of Ireland as well. I feel like the old photos I have do not do it justice. 

The 1 person I would take with me would be my mom. After all it is her mothers home county, so only fair. Plus I know my mom would enjoy meeting her cousins she has only seen photos of all these years. 

The one item I would bring with me is my camera. I would want to take pictures of everyone so I can show my kids their family and the beautiful country side. Photos last a life time when our memory begins to fade.

I would like to travel with my mom, grandma, and sister. There are a lot of places I'd love to travel, but Romania specifically because my moms side of the family is from Romania and Hungary. My mom was raised in Romania, and moved to the United States when she was 14 years old. My mom and grandma communicate primarily in Romanian, since my grandma is not fluent in English. I think it would be very special to see where my mom grew up and a special trip for my grandma to visit. My grandmother is 95 and the last living of her, my grandpa, and her sisters who all moved from Romania to the United States. One essential item I would bring on my journey would be a camera! I remember the time I wanted to take a Mississippi River cruise and revisited the thought and saw some YouTube videos. 
I’d take my cat, maybe my roommate or brother, or whoever else is available. 
I'd also take my cellphone, iPad, and Moleskine. 
I remember buying a mystery bag of ten vinyl records and noticing how heavy they were as I was walking home. Now people have access to a huge library of music, books, and movies, and don’t even notice the weight.

Prior to meeting my husband I had only flown one time and that was back in 1999 for my high school senior trip. Since 2017 I have traveled many places including out of the country 6 times. Our ultimate holiday was for our honeymoon. We traveled to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) charted a sailboat and lived on the ocean for 10 days, island hopping each night.  We have been chasing this holiday every since and so we have decided to go back in November for round 2 and instead of a sailboat we will be on a Catamaran. Work hard, play harder right!

Okay to the assignment, if I was to plan a trip where money wasn't an option and all the moving parts could drop everything and go, I would rent a cabin in Idaho large enough to fit two-dozen family members next to a beautiful lake. We would enjoy day hiking, family dinners, and stories by the bonfire at night. 

The essentials needed include a great attitude, empathy, compassion and food. The reason for the empathy and compassion is, well, kind of obvious LOL you get 24 family members in the same house, there is bound to be some personality clashing. 

This trip has been planned 2 or 3 times now and it always falls through due to one reason or another. I still dream this trip will happen for my dad (69),  he was diagnosis 2 years ago with Frontotemporal dementia and he is progressing fast.
