Herbs in Ur fridge is the solution to withering herbs in your refrigerator! With this invention, herbs can last 200% longer than before.

Traditional packaging will cause herbs to wither within a week and you will probably need to get down to the nearest supermarket for some fresh rosemary in the evening or a bunch Coriander to spice up the stir-fry you intended for dinner.

Herbs in your fridge offers a new packaging that will keep your herbs fresh for up to a month! All that's required is to slot the herbs you purchased from "Herbs in Ur fridge" into the water filled cartridges and keep them upright in your refrigerator. You can buy refills of different herbs from the "Herbs in Ur fridge" series.

The Product Design team has presented their innovation and the board of Directors were pleased with the new invention and have decided to introduce "Herbs in Ur fridge" next quarter.

How much will you price "Herb in your fridge" (i.e. the cartridge, the herbs refill pack and both the cartridge plus herbs) if an existing pack of coriander as shown in the picture below costs S$1.00 (on average) from a local supermarket? Why the price and what are your considerations in coming up with the pricing?

First, would like to know the herbs refill pack and water filled cartridge is reusable.

If not, will sell the herbs at a price that is slightly higher than organic product. To enable to cover the cost of the product.

If yes, will sell the product and the herbs separately.

I would offer the refills pack and water filled cartridge as an accessory rather than as a package with the herbs purchased. It should not be a case where consumers are "forced" to purchase the refill pack and water filled cartridge, and then ending up having multiples of them for every purchase they made.

Maybe for a start, the company may promote the product as an offer pack, to enter into the market and this could motivate consumers to make another purchase if they find the product useful. Price of the offer pack could be at $3.99, where the production cost is outsourced to external supplier e.g. in China.

I would priced the herbs slightly higher than the average market price at $1.50. For the water filled cartridges, they would be priced at $1.

Reason to the pricing for the herbs is that, consumer take organic food seriously and knows the value of it. Suppliers should take this advantage and provide the up-most quality herbs to justify the price tag.

Alternatively, to sell as a bundle, herbs and cartridges could be price at $2

I would price the "herb in your fridge" at $3.50.Where the cartridge and the herb refill pack is price at $2.50 and the price of coriander remain the same.

This is because to set internal factor of marketing objective of survival. Putting it at a low prices hoping to increase demand for a starter.

The cartridge

The water-filled cartridge is the premium product because retaining fresh herbs in the fridge is a challenge and no such mechanism has been introduced before. The water-filled cartridge can be sold at $10 as a starter pack, bundled with herbs together with a refill cover pack. Overtime, customers can retain the cartridge. The cost of starter pack should include the cost of production, promotion and R&D of the cartridge. Customers have the habit of saving money by sourcing for loose herbs from diff places or suppliers and 'maybe' recycle the herbs refill pack cover over a few cycles of use. This product reminded me of the air freshener automatic spray sold in the supermarket. It's exactly a similar concept.

I think the price should be around $4, because of 4 reasons:

1. This price should be between the price ceiling and price floor, all cost should be $3 so they can get $1 as profit if retail price is $4.

2. Nature of demand: Not all of customers need to keep herbs for one month, customers who have to keep herbs for few weeks don't mind to pay higher price .

3. Competitors: This product is not high technology product, if the price is too higher, customers will look for similar product from competitors.

4. Market share leadership: As a new product, they must occupy most market before other competitors enter the market, so the price cannot be too high.
