Entomology is the study of Insects and also the study of controlling insects. 1 of the branches of entomology is called aquatic entomology in which Entomologists study aquatic insects like Diving beetles, Dragonfly nymphs, and pond skaters. Another Branch of entomology is called Insect ecology, this branch focuses on the effect insects can have in their native habitat or ecosystem. One of the components for Entomology includes various components of Zoological study such as: Physiology, Ecology, Taxology, as well as Economic Entomology, which discovers the harmful and beneficial impacts insects have on human life. One Agribusiness that focuses on entomology in North Carolina is the NC state department of entomology. The department works to contain and control pests to farmers and crops such as wire worms, stink bugs, Thrips and many, many more. Entomology is mostly used to gain an understanding about the creatures that live with us,either by choice, or by being a pet. In many ways we couldn't live without Insects. They provide services that humans just cant replicate without their help. For instance if all the bees that produce honey were to die (to be fair they are dying off at an alarming rate) then many fruit trees like apple trees and squash plants would be unable to produce their fruits. Not to mention that the world would be filled with sh!tif it wasn't for dung beetles displacing it while also fertilizing the soil. And That's not even mentioning clean up crews like roaches and isopods.

https://www.spidexx.com/blog/2019/october/what-is-the-study-of-entomology-/#:~:text=Entomology includes various components of,insects have on human life.

https://cotton.ces.ncsu.edu/insect-scouting-guide/

Horticulture is a branch of plant agriculture and it mainly deals with garden plants such as vegetables, fruits, and ornamental ones. It is very easy to start horticulture but gets quite intense to maintain to reap benefits. The scale of horticulture can fall somewhere between homegrown gardens and commercial fields. The success of horticulture depends on a few factors such as the weather, rain, soil quality, and terrain. Horticulture is basically a blend of science and art, it requires years of practice growing plants in different environments to master it. All individual plants that are grown horticulturally require intense individual attention. So horticulture is for people with passion and patience to pursue it. The four different branches in horticulture are pomology, olericulture, floriculture, and landscape horticulture.
North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services and Agriculture & Agribusiness - NC Chamber are both agribusiness in North Carolina that support horticulture. In North Carolina you can mind horticulture in Piedmont. According to a new information-rich graphic, “#PlantsDoThat, Horticulture: The Art, Science and Business of Plants,” consumer horticulture contributes $196 billion to the U.S. economy annually and creates more than 2 million jobs. Horticulture also contributes 6% to GDP and it adds to 1/3 of the whole agricultural output. Horticulture plays a significant role in the North Carolina economy, as well. The census shows that in 2014, there were 1,337 horticultural operations in the state, and the farmgate value of the industry was $571 million. The best way especially to start a career and get beneficial courses paid for, is to join either rhs or go to a public garden and ask for voluntary work. I find it interesting that over 1/3 of all households in the United States grow some of their own food. About 9 out of every 10 gardeners who grow vegetables try to grow tomatoes. After tomatoes, cucumbers are the second most popular vegetable grown in home gardens. I would join this industry!

i used google and https://ncchamber.com/issue/agriculture-agribusiness/

The different branches of Animal Science are, Animal Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology, Reproductive Physiology, Genetics, Livestock Techniques and Evaluation, Equine Techniques and Evaluation, Animal Management courses. Animal agriculture directly supported over 46,000 jobs, but considering all other jobs sustained by the industry, the total is nearly 83,000. That total labor activity produced the equivalent of $7.8 billion in value added (or GDP, gross domestic product) from $20 billion in total economic output. Agriculture remains North Carolina's biggest economic driver, employing 17% of the state's workforce while feeding, fueling, and clothing people. The top 5 Animal science colleges in NC are North Carolina State University Raleigh, NC, North Carolina A & T State University Greensboro, NC, University of Mount Olive Mount Olive, NC, Wayne Community College Goldsboro, NC, James Sprunt Community College, Alamance Community College. Animal scientists must have formal training and appropriate experience to learn and apply the complex principles involved in animal production, care, and use.Animal scientists must have at least a master's degree in biology, chemistry or another related field. A master's degree takes about two to three years to earn after first obtaining a four-year bachelor's. What I find interesting about the animal science industry is the close up work you get to do with animals.

Aquaculture is aquatic animal production that is basically like farming. It consists of producing fish, crustaceans, and other aquatic life. The aquaculture industries make sure that healthy, safe, and maintainable produce is being made. Some local aquaculture companies are Blue Ridge Fish Hatchery, Sunburst Trout Farm, and Castle Hane Fishery. Most of these companies are multi-millionaire companies that produce healthy fish and seafood. Some types of fish that these companies produce are trout, carp, mackerel, and salmon. Some non-fish species that these companies produce are oysters, freshwater prawns, shrimp, and clams. The first step in the aquaculture process is breeding the desired fish. Then you need to raise it healthily and well to a good adult state. After that, the fish/ aquatic life is harvested, sold to stores, and then bought by consumers. Aquaculture is a more environmentally healthy way to produce fish. It produces less carbon than boat fishing. There is a lot of aquafarming near the coast, outside of the outer banks. The two main types of aquaculture are Marine and Freshwater. There are multiple different kinds in each region so it is important to farm in both. I think it would be a good idea to get educated on it first, but you don't just have to be involved with the fish in this profession. There are ways to be involved with the mechanical parts of this, like the ways to keep the fish contained and safe. I really like that this industry is much more environmentally healthier and faster and WAY less destructive than boat fishing.

Sources-
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/
https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/
https://genv.org/

It was found that the average income from agri-tourism accounted for about one-third of the overall household income of farmers. Caldwell, Watauga, and Ashe counties are some places you would find some you would find agri-tourism businesses. You would get into this business by making a plan and finding somewhere to host your business. After you that you would promote and get people to come out. One thing I lie about this industry is that it could be multiple different types of businesses and it all inst the same. I would definitely get into this industry.

The definition of Hydroponics is the process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid, with added nutrients but without soil. Hydroponics has six different branches. These branches are wick systems, deep water culture systems, nutrient film and technique systems, aeroponics systems, ebb and flow systems, and drip systems. To be honest, it is normally not very good for economics. The systems can be very expensive. However, some systems can improve production of crops 3-10 times in a smaller area than before. You can find the larger systems in NC around Charlotte. Someone with no experience should probably join as a farmhand and learn through assisting someone else. The most interesting thing about this industry is the ability to grow crops in a small area. I also find it interesting that the systems are very helpful in providing nutrients for plants. In conclusion, Hydroponics is a very versatile agricultural system that could help lots of people when applied in the right places.

Agribusiness is agriculture conducted on commercial principles, especially using advanced tech. The main sectors are agribusiness input, agribusiness output, and agriservices. It has contributed roughly $1.264 trillion to the us economy in 2021, and 1/6 of nc's income. The main parts of nc you will find these types are Surry, Ashe, buncombe, and cleveland nc. With all these places having over 1,000 farms in each city. If you wanted to get into agribusiness first find out why you are interested in it. Next choose which farm enterprise(s) you wanna get into. Then you wanna do some research and try to meet with people who have experience. Last if you know that you are 100% interested take classes so you know what to do and how to do it. What i found interesting is that there is multiple options whether you are working with livestock, crops, etc. I probably would enter agribusiness because i feel that working with animals can be fun

Entomology is the branch of zoology that is concerned with the study of insects. There are many different branches to do with this industry such as things to do with behavior, management, medical, chemistry, etc. Some specific ones are insect physiology which has to with the study of the functional properties of insects tissues and organs, apiculture which has to do with rearing honeybees, insect ecology which has to do with the scientific study of how insects interact with their surroundings, and many many more. Entomology actually has a direct influence on humanity as it focuses on the effects of insects on human economy. It influences us through agriculture as insects are the things that pollinate our crops. NC focuses more on the management branch of entomology as there is a big pest problem when it comes to agriculture. Here in NC there are many areas where entomology is involved but a big area where it is studied and seen is NC state. NC state has an entire entomology department that focuses on insect biology and insect management which as I said before is a big focus in NC. NC has many agribusinesses that involve entomology. One is the NC pest management association which as said in the name involves the management of these creatures and another is NCSU Plant disease and insect clinic which diagnoses the problems with a insect and or plant and helps them. When it comes to entomology you must have a degree in the proper fields to involve yourself at all. Id say the best way to involve yourself in entomology and to get yourself started is to enroll into an undergraduate program where you have freedom to study entomology and from there you can continue to work hard in this field. This entomology industry actually really interests me as insects are very intriguing and interesting creatures. I personally am someone who adores butterflies and entomology provides fields and branches where you can work with them. I'd say I myself would definitely work in this industry.

Bibliography:
https://gradschool.cornell.edu/academics/fields-of study/field/entomology/
https://prezi.com/fxw5ywndrstp/the-importance-of-entomology-in-the-agriculture-area-and-how/#:~:text=They%20pollinate%20our%20crops%2C%20they,fields%20for%20example%20textile%20industry.
https://vernonjames.ces.ncsu.edu/department-of-entomology/economic-thresholds/
https://entomology.ces.ncsu.edu/
https://www.ncagr.gov/spcap/structural/links.htm
https://www.britannica.com/science/entomology

Animal Science is the branch of agriculture that studies and manages animals. Branches of animal science consist of “applied animal physiology, nutrition, breeding and genetics, ecology and ethology, and livestock and poultry management.” Applied animal physiology studies an animal’s body and how each part functions. Ecology studies relationships between biological organisms and their surrounding area. Ethology concerns animal behavior. Also, ethology aids in the prevention of diseases in animals. This branch includes treatments as well. Livestock and poultry management deals with working with farm animals and domestic fowl. Examples of domestic fowls are chickens, turkeys, and ducks. Breeding and genetics handle reproduction processes and the animals’ genes and heredity. Nutrition is the process that supplies food mandatory for the growth and health of animals. The Animal Science industry in the United States is economically influential to a vast extent. They have assisted approximately 83,000 individuals’ jobs. This industry made about 7.8 billion in value, regarding the total labor activity, deriving from 20 billion in total economic output. In North Carolina, employment in the animal science industry supports 79,300 jobs, including 9,000 over the past decade. Animal science industries in North Carolina are in Raleigh and Greensboro. With no prior experience within the industry, an individual should strive to fill in those gaps while learning and developing skills and experiences. To take it step by step is recommended. Individuals can enter this industry by fulfilling tasks such as volunteer work associated with animal science. What I find interesting about this industry is the opportunity to work with various animals and better understand their lifestyles and behavior. I would personally like to enter this industry because of those reasons.

Citations/references:

https://www

https://www

https://ncfieldfamily

https://v1.padlet.pics/1/image.webp?t=c_limit%2Cdpr_1%2Ch_583%2Cw_358&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpadlet-artifacts.storage.googleapis.com%2F7db47f8df6f8de171e20fbded7aa52f1cb44a688%2Fdfb171d3b31cc4b6dc5b0354ce27973a-h-1d1581b378412270b019767e7ac44ef9.jpg

Biotechnology is the exploitation of biological processes for industrial purposes. More often than not this will be the genetic modification of plants/animals for agricultural reasons. The use of this industry in agriculture is very important in the process of getting food to your table. For crops, the application of biotech can allow them to be in greater yield, healthier, tastier, and less diseased. It is also a win for the farmer as costs are reduced, as well is easier to produce, grow, and harvest. Some plants as we know them today such as corn and bananas have been drastically changed from their natural form through biotech, did you know natural bananas have large hard seeds in them? Far more than the commercially produced ones. With animal farming, the use of biotech has been massive as well. Animals have been genetically modified to carry increased amounts of whatever product they make, including meat, wool, and milk. One agribusiness that supports the biotech field is AgBiome. Their mission statement is "We develop innovative biological and trait products to enhance the global food production process and feed the world responsibly".

Sources used:
USDA
Everycrsreport
AgBiome

Renewable Natural Resources are part of agriculture that targets reusing sources that we've already used. Some examples that you might recognize are solar panels, dams, windmills, and many more. There is a difference between this kind of resource to the other ones, and that is that there isn't a limit on renewable resources. You can use these and never run out and you can take advantage of that. The different parts of renewable energy are, solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy, tidal energy, geothermal energy, and biomass energy. This type of resource is very crucial to America because we like to use and overuse a lot of our things, so if we didn't have an unlimited supply of different things then we would run out of different materials. In 2021, the remaining coal-fired power plants provided about 16% of the electricity generated in the state. Solar power, hydroelectric power, biomass, and wind power accounted for almost all the rest of North Carolina's electricity generation. If you are new to renewable natural resources and you want to get into that field of work and be successful. Then you should go the way of getting a degree. One of the best degree choices if you're pursuing a career in renewable energy is a bachelor's degree in chemistry. You might consider specializing in biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioinformatics, or forensic science. This degree usually takes four years to complete. What I find interesting about this industry is that scientists found a way to reuse natural resources. Personally, for me I would not get into this field because this isn't really something I want to do for the rest of my life. I do recommend it tho!!

- ttps://windexchange.energy.gov/small-wind-guidebook#:~:text=Although%20wind%20turbines%20large%20enough,accommodate%20a%20wind%20energy%20system.

https://www.sog.unc.edu/sites/default/files/articles/article2_16.pdf

https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/renewable-resources

https://www.energy.gov/articles/how-start-your-career-clean-energy

animal science; dont get this confused by a veterinarian. veterinarians help animals that are sick or injured animal scientists are described as studying the biology of animals that are under the control of human kind. They can also be distracted by the production and management of farm animals. here are some of the other branches applied to animal physiology, nutrition, breeding and genetics, ecology and ethology, and livestock and poultry management. and this is vary helpful for example the copperhead snake without animal scientists we wouldn't know that they're poisonous. that is one of many reasons why animal scientists are important and helpful in North Carolina. Now there are tons of animal science shelters all over the place but there is one in Raleigh that is focusing directly on animal science. But it's not easy to become an animal scientist to be any kind of scientist you need to go to a four-year college and get degrees and what you are working in. Once you get your degree in animal science you can start to apply for jobs.In the last question is what did I find interesting about this. To be honest I just really like animals and science so those two combined put the cherry on the top of the cake for me and that's why I chose animal science.

Crop science (Jarin Fludd)

Crop science is the study of the agriculture issues and challenges. This includes the use of consistent with sustainable production of food, feed, fiber and fuel. The main divisions of crop science consist of Breeding which is is taking care and keeping plants healthy, Genetics which is the the applied study of the effects of genetic variation and selection used to propagate valuable heritable traits, Production which the production and management of row crops, Management is the set of agricultural practices performed to improve the growth, development and yield of crops. The growth and the development of the crops has a major impact on the economic role in the United States. In order for people to go back and buy more fruits and vegetables from stores and markets the farmers need to keep growing more and more of those fruits and vegetables so people can spend their money on it. It is a real impact to North Carolina. The growth of the food, fiber and forestry contributes to the 87 billion dollars annually to the states economy and that accounts to the 17% of the states income. You would mostly find this industry in the coastal plain areas of North Carolina. That is where we get some rainfall and that is where are water ways are so the crops stay healthy and watered and supported. It is one of the best places to grow crops because of the good environment. If a person is new to the industry they probably will not know some of the things they would need to know when they are about to start crop science. They would not know where to start or when to do certain things to plants. They might mess up the plants and ruin a lot of other things. What I found interesting about the industry is that I didn't know how popular this industry was in North Carolina and I didn't know much about when and where they planted these crops. I would not personally enter this because I would really have to have a lot of responsibility and this is not something I would want to take care of and do for myself everyday. This just would not interest me. I could do it a couple times to see how it works but I would not personally do this. If you really love plants this would be a really good industry to get in.

Sources:

https://admission.wsu.edu/

Agriculturehttps://climate.ncsu.edu
