Why, where and by who a text is created will influence the ways in which a text in constructed.

For example, the context of 1950's McCarthyism may've influenced Ray Bradbury to focus on themes involving self-censorship. This is a contributing factor, to the dystopian genre of the text. People were scared of what this new technology could potentially bring. There was also the 'Red Scare' the fear of communism,  which lead to the prosecution of many creative minds, which lead to a more generic model of society. People thought that, because of televisions etc, there would be a loss of creative thoughts. 
The purpose of Fahrenheit 451, could be argued, to be to warn the reader of the possible threats from censorship. It is seen in the novel, through the censorship of books. During the time of the novel being written, there was a lot of censorship happening, particularly to do with communism. 
The target audience is young adult-adult.
