Hi people of the Philippines! See me as your friendly kapitbahay who dwells in media since 02s! I'm basically the digital ''tambay'' who is up for a good chat, ready to drop everything for the knowledge like hearing the music of OPM, the surprise "banat" from Vice Ganda, and the iconic tunes of Eraserheads (dad loves that band tbh) to the current modern bands such as BINI. I can probably remember the lines from those classic Filipino movies I used to watch with my family. Maaaaybe, a "marites" when it comes to the latest news and don't get even me started on the iconic Charice Pempengco, good all times back in elementary to highschool! I'm here to scroll for the freshiest memes and viral vieos! Why not enjoy the good laugh because of the Filipino internet!? Tara, let's chitchat and chismis with each other!

When Life Gives You Pain, Make Memes....

Into the insane world of Filipino memes! Filipinos love their memes and I want to highlight this kind of humor. Hugot is intertwined with this one prior to the deeply emotional statement, talking about love or heartbreak which it is delivered by a comedic twist. In Filipino art, they appreciate seeing pain into punchlines and memes are everywhere on digital platforms. From Facebook to Twitter, they capture our attention and people have the tendency to laugh all about it. A classic "hugot" meme can pair up with a relatable image or video, like a girl crying while showering because of breakdown or anything that is related to life... it's just like collectively saying "hays, buhay but we go with the flow!". They're honestly iconic because they're so relatable and they show how Filipinos use humor to cope. A way to have a heart to communicate with one another!!

As we look through the lens of Uses and Gratifications Theory (UGT), Filipino memes can be seen as an addicting format of entertainment. A media consumption serving a purpose for individuals that feed their fulfillment and people use memes to satiate them. Sharing and engaging with memes produce a similar interest or values like.. misery loves company, ey? Memes can also be expressed in using on a emotional level.

Aside from that... Filipino memes can play a vital role in shaping our understanding and reaching to others in the community. It influences our social change. It reflects and develops social attitudes, beliefs, and values so.. memes can contribute to a lot. Despite that it can be funny most of the times, memes can be for hinting their crushes, positive vibes, and even their mood translation. Constantly, memes also persuade harmful stereotypes and prejudice. Therefore, Filipino memes can be used up to the users through their own intentions and gain interactions from others who match up the critieria.
