         <title>These days people
talk about how difficult it can be now to filter what is on the internet and
research effectively, and some schools get around this issue by heavily
blocking the sites children have access too instead of educating them on where
must they search information.

&amp;nbsp;

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Start with some general
key words. This would depend on the topic we are looking for. &amp;nbsp;Sometimes we would need to change the keywords
to make a more specific search. 

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Glance through a few &amp;nbsp;pages. We can’t&amp;nbsp; rely on the first page we surf on the
internet. Students should learn to search different pages. 

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Look at the actual URL
address. To make sure that the page is secure or&amp;nbsp;
reliable. Encourage them to make their own judgment by checking more
than one page if they’re not sure

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Make sure that there
aren’t advertisement webpages. Sometimes when we are looking for some
information it is common to suddenly appear a advertisement, so try to&amp;nbsp; avoid them. 

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Background.
Students must know who is the writer and when was the text written.

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Search
some weak websites and ask students to justify if the information is reliable
or not.

·&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
They
would start searching information from the pages they already know.

Teach the students seriousness of the plagiarism. And show them to write in
their own words, and also to teach&amp;nbsp; how
to do cites.&amp;nbsp;</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nowadays teaching students research skills is becoming increasingly important. Some schools blocked websites to children, but it is better to educate than block.&nbsp;<br>There are ten tips to help the students to research:<br>-Search: Start with some general key words, if it doesn´t work use more specific search. Also, use the word "kids" can be helpful to find child friendly websites and articles.<br>-Delve: Look beyond the first few results. Let students know that many websites use Search Engine Optimisation to improve the visibility of their pages in search results.<br>-Source: Look at the actual URL address to see where you’re going before you click on a search engine result. You must to decide whether it seems reliable.<br>-Validity: Ensure students understand that you cannot believe everything you read.<br>-Purpose: Be wary of websites that are cluttered with advertisements or might be trying to sell you something.<br>-Backgorunds: When reading articles, try to look for the author’s name and when the article was written. Is it recent or outdated?<br>-Teach:&nbsp; Integrate the teaching of these skills into everything you do.&nbsp;<br>-Justify: Student must think whether the site would be useful and reliable.<br>-Path:&nbsp; Students might like to start their search with some sites they know or have used before rather than randomly googling.<br>-Cite: Teach to the students how to use&nbsp; quotation marks and cite sources. Remind students about the seriousness of plagiarism and copyright infringement.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Ten Tips for Teaching Students how to Research and Filter Information</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nowadays on Internet we can find all type of information. The relevance of that information is not always the same. In order to find the most relevance information, students must be taught to surf on Internet and they must develop research skills. Therefore, in this article ten tips are given to learn about web literacy. </div><div>The first one is related to search. Students may use general key words at the time of searching. In the second tip it is recommended to delve.  That means that students will have to look beyond the first few results taking into account that many websites use Search Engine Optimisation to appear on the top of search results. That does not mean that those results are the most useful or relevant.</div><div>The third tip is connected to the source. We must have a look to the URL address to see and decide if that website it is reliable.  The fourth one is related to validity. The students have to understand that they cannot believe everything they read. In the fifth one it is said that websites purpose must be know. The background is the sixth one. They must take into account when the article was written and who is the author. The seventh tip recommends the teacher to integrate these skills into everything it does. The eighth one proposes to the teacher to go to some weak websites and ask the student to justify if the site is useful or reliable.  The ninth one is to path students might search with some sites they already know. The last but not least, teacher has to give to the student the chance to practice writing in their own words and show them how to use quotation marks and cite sources. Bearing in mind about the seriousness of plagiarism and copyright infringement.</div>]]></description>
