What is the Ohio Brain Injury Connection?

The Ohio Brain Injury Connection is a free, virtual, person-centered resource facilitation program funded by the stated funded Ohio Brain Injury Program. The Ohio Brain Injury Connection is available to any Ohioan who has had a brain injury.

Expectations:

This is not a medical service program that provides medical advice or treatment. A Resource Advisor will provide education, resources and work in tandem to develop a plan and steps that will reach your goals. A Resource Advisor is a health care professional with experience in working with an individual with a history of brain injury. This is a confidential, voluntary program with a frequency of communication based on a case-by-case basis that reflects the goals of the individual. The Resource Advisor will help an individual explore the role of brain injuries in their life, identify compensatory strategies tailored to the individual, review their brain health and make a plan to take the next steps to improve their quality of life.

Our Resource Advisors can help patients by:

Providing information on brain injuries and how they can impact a life.

Helping to find appropriate support groups to fit the person’s needs.

Being a non-judgmental sounding board, offering supportive listening and confidentiality.

Acting as a liaison with the person’s medical provider(s).

Helping to file disability or Medicaid paperwork.

Helping the person to identify barriers and solutions to utilizing resources in their area.

Helping the person to identify and advocate for workplace accommodations.
