Some well-known social media platforms are Tiktok, Twitter, Discord etc. Whenever we open Tiktok for example, the algorithm automatically pushes out videos that it thinks the user may like. Twitter works in a similar way, listing down trends, and also has an algorithm that recommends tweets to the user based on what the user had been interacting with. Discord however, does not have an algorithm to recommend anything new to the user but it is an excellent platform to keep in touch with online and real world friends as well as family members. 

Some of the latest trends that I have observed are the recent rise in anime-style RPG games over the years. The most notable release is Genshin Impact, garnering wide-spread attention from casual and hardcore gamers from around the world with it's attractive cast of characters and amazing storyline. This could be due to the pandemic in 2020, where people were quarantined in their homes and had nothing better to do. After the hit game was released, other anime-style RPG games was given attention and hence, the rise in popularity.
