Each of you needs to answer these questions in a Padlet post:

* What aspect of your project are you most proud of?
* What do you want everyone to pay particular attention to on your website?
* What will you personally remember about what you learned about your targeted population?

Make sure you indicate which targeted population you worked on.

Rachel Roncka - Disabled
I am most proud of our tab on the different methods of propaganda used to convince the German people that euthanasia of disabled people was morally right. We found many examples of films, political cartoons, and even children's math problems that show how ingrained this dehumanization was in German society. I hope viewers pay attention to these more subtle methods of propaganda and manipulation so that they'll be able to identify them if encountered in other situations. One thing that I will always remember is how the idea that disabled people were "worthless eaters" and too much of a burden to be allowed to live was not a radical concept in 1930s Germany, as well as other countries. People were not only complicit but enthusiastic in their sterilization and euthanasia, as they believed this was best for the collective interest of the country. These attitudes and the mistreatment of disabled people in facilities did not end with the war and are still all too common today.

I'm most proud of being able to create a full website about it and the cohesive work we all did in our groups, as I have never created a website before. I want everyone to see the tab about the treatment of artist, writers, and musicians because the dynamic between the Nazi party and artist is incredibly interesting. I will remember the stories of musicians who were exiled and made it to Hollywood to pursue music in film, it's a optimistic story that came out about learning about their treatment.

Deanna - Artists, Writers, Musicians, etc.; I am most proud of being able to share the different artists that were affected by the Nazi regime and their personal experiences of how their art was affected. I am also proud of how my group and I were able to connect all our tabs together and emphasize certain aspects of our targeted population. I want everyone to pay attention to the testimonies of the people who were deported to the Terezin camp as it explains a lot about how art impacted them during their time there. In addition, paying attention to how art was interpreted by the Nazis is extremely important as it was considered 'degenerate'; how did the artists react to their works being ridiculed and dissented? What I will personally remember about my targeted population was how much creativity and passion that the affected artists had for their works and the risks that they took in order to continue making them. I will also remember that their works are integral to German culture now so it is important to acknowledge the oppression of the artists of the past.

Ziqi Zhen - Roma-Sinti. I am most proud of the testimonies that I worked on because I made sure to really capture the speaker's own journey and experience. I want the reader to take the time to read over them and try to immerse themselves in the speaker's position. I want to share the admiration and the sense of awe I felt for the speaker when they talked about their struggles and how despite the horrendous situations that they were put in, they ultimately survived and overcame their supressers. I also wish that people will take the time to explore the map of the camps and realize just how many camps there were. There are many anecdotes that left a lasting impression in my mind, but the anecdote that really spoke to me was when one of the workers gave all of her smaller daughter's rations to the bigger daughter so the bigger daughter would have a higher rate of survival, but the mom and the bigger daughter ironically passed away while the smaller daughter survived. The older daughter's corpse was stuffed in a locker eaten away by mice.

I am most proud of how thorough my group made the wesbsite so throughout, it was nice to see all of it come together in the way that it did. Personally I will remember how blind, deaf, and other disabled people were treated because they are often overlooked, similar to today. I will also remember a lot about the forced sterilizations because I found those beyond traumatic and disgusting.

I think people should pay attention to the various pieces of artwork we have on every page of the website because of how it provides a real visual experience to compliment our text. The timeline is also a great way to get a good overview of how these people were treated. I will remember how even though people were targeted for it, music and art always provided an incredible bright spot of hope, and how this expression can never be fully taken away.

I think everyone should pay attenton to said work, especially the pictures of excerpts from "...I Never Saw Another Buttterfly..." because I think knowing the age and situation of the children who did that work is so powerful. I will personally remember that Terezin was used to show the outside that conditions in the camps were not that bad, even though thousands of people had died there, because I think it must have been so traumatic for those staying at the camps to know their personal tragedies were being hidden and brushed away.

I want everyone to look at how the different groups within the LGBTQ+ population were treated, as gay men and women were treated and viewed differently by the Nazis. Personally, I will remember how the LGBTQ+ population was treated after the fall of the Nazi Party, because once liberated some gay men were put in a prison as being gay was still illegal. Additionally, no reparations were given to any gay men, and there is an unforgettable survivor testament on our website that talks about that.

The LGBTQ+ community is so diverse and filled with many different experiences, so I'm glad that we were able to explore more than just one perspective. Personally, I think that it's important for people to pay attention to the section on treatment during the war, as well as in the aftermath of the war. Something that I will personally remember about this targeted population, especially having read a witness account, was how much rejection, especially for men with pink triangles inside the concentration camps, members of the LGBTQ+ community faced in this time; they were isolated within the camps, and even rejected by other prisoners. In addition, I'll remember how, after the war, they didn't receive any reparations, and continued to be persecuted for their sexuality.

I've never done such a deep dive for a project before and being able to read primary sources in books from the library was a really cool experience. I'm also proud of the parts of the website that I was able to right based on my research.

People should pay particular attention to parallels between how queer identities were perceived and persecuted in Nazi Germany, and how they are still negatively perceived and persecuted in modern times--for example, how gay men and lesbians are still sometimes treated differently, or how gay people are represented as threats to public security and the to the growth of a nation.

I think I will personally remember how the persecution of gay people in Nazi Germany differed from that of Jews--i.e., how the Nazis wanted gays to assimilate into straight society, and how they viewed some as "incorrigible" and others as "salvageable." I will also remember how views on homosexuality transformed in the 1870s as a more scientific perspective was taken on it, giving rise to the gay emancipation movement.

The aspect of the project I am most proud of is the deep dive we did into how soldiers or internationals of African descent were treated by the Nazi Regime in Germany and across Nazi-occupied Europe. I think this is really important because you can see how people get caught up in the cruelty of it all. There are instances of people being sent to prisons for war prisoners even in international locations and they, in many cases, were barred from carrying out their chosen profession because of the color of their skin. I think one aspect of the project that I think everyone should pay particular attention to is the commonality of forced sterilizations being carried out onto this specific population. This is a common occurrence throughout our history and even can help us correlate our own country's history of brutality with this point in history. The one thing I will personally remember about what I learned is how they treated the children when they were rounded up. The Nazis treated them as if they were inhuman, measuring every part of their body as if they were an object.

I think people should play close attention to what happened to the Roma/Sinti people after the Holocaust because they've never really got any immediate recognition or help for all that they went through. It's important to remember that so we can spread their story, and never let that happen again to any other group of people who have experienced severe trauma. What I am going to remember most is Lina's story because she described it in such detail that I don't think I'll ever forget.

Mia Chow- LGBTQ+ I’m most proud of the map for my project as that took forever to format and complete and I think my group compiled a good list of locations to pinpoint that goes well with everything we researched; our website as a whole is well-formatted and I’m proud of how much information we were able to compile. I think people should pay most attention to how LGBTQ+ members were treated after the war. Something I’ll definitely remember is the treatment of LGBTQ+ members in concentration camps and how they were brutalized through treatments like coerced castrations and other experiments and by other prisoners in camp.

Grace Pham: I researched about the disabled population. I am most proud of how well our website turned out and how thoughtful all of my group's research was. I want everyone to pay attention to the propaganda about our population, especially the films and the math problems that the Nazis used to gain the public support for eugenics laws. I will remember that a large part of my population were false diagnosed with certain illness so that the Nazis could justify their sterilization and/ or murder of these individuals.

 Aidan Chen - Afro-Germans/Afro-Europeans

Regarding the project, I’m most proud of how I conducted my research, by watching films featuring survivor testimony and looking into survivor accounts. The experience of Afro-Germans/Afro-Europeans is not discussed enough compared to other groups persecuted during this time: I personally did not know much about the group before I started the project. This made it ever more meaningful to learn about the legitimate experiences which members of this population underwent, all of which were unbeknownst to me and (I’m guessing) most of my peers. I hope that our website is able to shed some light on this forgotten population during the Holocaust.

I want everybody to pay particular attention to how propaganda/profiling against Afro-Germans/Afro-Europeans originated in Nazi Germany. While it can be easy to assume that the eugenics movement and racial profiling began under Nazi reign, it’s clear that other factors (Herero Wars, WWI) were crucial in iniating such tendencies. ‘

Moving forward, I will vividly remember the survivor accounts of victims of the Rhineland Sterilization Program. Listening to those recount their horrific experiences really resonates nowadays in regard to situations taking place around the world.
