      <description>A retired professor with an equally strong background in advertising and PR, Abbott Ikeler spent ten years as Asia Pacific advertising and public relations manager for Digital Equipment Corporation. In this role, he developed relationships with subsidiary managers in more than 55 countries in Asia and Latin America, in addition to training top executives to work effectively with the print and broadcast press in foreign markets.

Both before and after that, Dr. Ikeler achieved success in academia, first as assistant professor of English at Bowdoin College and Fulbright Senior Fellow and guest professor at the University of Muenster and again, after years in the corporate world, at Emerson College as professor and graduate program director. Toward the end of his full-time career, he lectured annually on global public relations and cultural differences to master’s candidates at Bochum University in Germany. Finally, after retiring from Emerson College in 2009, he continued to teach there part-time until 2012 and at the University of Rhode Island until 2015.

A graduate of Harvard University with a bachelor of arts in English, Dr. Ikeler holds a master of arts in English from the University of Pittsburgh and a PhD in English from the University of London. In his free time, he maintains an active interest in topics such as anthropology and archaeology. An avid writer, he has published several memoirs and volumes of poetry.</description>
