What is the best way to increase flexibility?

When you stretch a muscle, it lengthens your tendons, and you are able to increase the muscle size. Located on the back of the legs, the hamstrings are made up of three different muscles with tendons that cross over the knee and hip joints. With decreased joint mobility affects the your flexibility. Stretching also increases blood flow to muscles. Because we spend a lot of time with our knees bent and our hips bent our hamstrings tighten witch causes it to be harder to stretch them due to the tightness of them.

Who invented the treadmill? Why?

In 1818, an English civil engineer named Sir William Cubitt devised a machine called the "tread-Wheel" to reform stubborn and idle convicts. Prisoners would step on the 24-spokes of a large paddle wheel, climbing it like a modern StairMaster. As it turned it would pump water or crush grain. In 1824, prison guard James Hardie created the device with taming the defiant inmates. American wardens gradually stopped using the treadmill in favor of other backbreaking tasks, such as picking cotton, breaking rocks or laying bricks.
