PAH is formed when gas, coal, and oil are burned. PCB acts as a flame retardant in electrical equipment and have also been used as adhesives, sealants, and caulk. Algae blooms block sunlight. Also algae blooms make dead zones and low oxygen.The low oxygen causes marine life to suffocate. The algae blooms cover the top of the water and make the underwater grasses lose sunlight and then not able to do photosynthesis so they die. They could make nutrient holding facilities for the sewage facilities. Farms could make larger buffers and hold back on the fertilizers. Another thing they could do is put oxygen into the water so the fish do not suffocate and die. When there is cloudy water it will block the sunlight which will start algae blooms. The most common contaminant in the Chesapeake bay, can persist in the environment for a long time. of These contaminates build up in the tissues of fish, and other organisms. During accumulation, small bottom dwelling organisms take up contaminants through skin contact or while feeding, then the large fish go and eat the small contaminated organisms causing the butterfly effect, then the mammals eat the larger fish, causing them to get toxins inside the wildlife.
