On Act 3, Scene 1, a melancholic and effusive Hamlet said the following, “To be, or not to be… To die, to sleep no more and by a sleep to say we end the heartache, and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to”. Moreover, numerous modern day tragic heroes can be identified with Hamlet’s thoughts, one of them is the deceased rock artist Kurt Cobain. Both Hamlet and Cobain, saw suicide as a viable option to alleviate their pain. However the musician was frenetic and decided to take action by his own hand eventually finishing with his life while Hamlet didn’t end it all. At age 27, the rock performer decided to pull the trigger and end his griefs. Furthermore, his tragic flaws were severe depression and drug addiction which eventually caused his downfall. To conclude, both Hamlet and Cobain have a connection due to the fact that both saw committing suicide as an excellent method to stop one’s misery.
