According to what I heard from the social media, many high-rise buildings in downtown were damaged. The government announced the highest level of warn and put on a traffic control to forbid people being out of the buildings. We spent the whole day in our apartment.

It was mostly gray clouds with mild lightning storms as early as Thursday. Some schools began cancelling classes as early as Wednesday while others cancelled as late as Friday. During that time (Wednesday - Friday), there were light showers. It was only on Saturday, around 1-2am, where we truly felt the storm. Woke up to howling winds, slamming doors and falling branches. When the rain stopped, at around 8-9am, there were a lot of leaves and branches strewn on the floor. One of our trees toppled from the strength of the wind. But after that, there were light showers here and there. All across the capital, there was garbage from Manila Bay that were all over the road, light flooding in flood prone areas. It’s in the north that was truly devastated from the storm.

Even though our windows were all shut, the doors were swinging, hanging clothes were swaying, and the water in the jug was moving. 

I am grateful to live in a city that is well constructed and had considerable experience facing typhoons, but Mangkhut pushed Hong Kong to its limits.

It's a wake up call for all of us. If global warming continues unabated, we can only expect more extreme weather. Of course we will have to adapt, but that's not the point. Mangkhut is category 5 and Hato is category 3…
Mangkhut was category 2 when it arrived at Hong Kong…
But the damage was stronger than Hato… 
Hato was 50 km away…
Mangkhut was 100 km away…
Hato had typhoon number 10 for 2 or 3 hours…
Mangkhut had typhoon number 10 for about 10 hours.
I woke up on 7:00 am.
FUNG FUNG! Mangkhut sounded.
I was afraid so I went outside.
I took a photo of the adhesive tape I sticked yesterday.
I watched TV with my mum and my brother until, mum went to take a bath.
My brother put the TV onto the news.
MEANWHILE… …

I watched as it changed typhoon number 9 at 7:40
I quickly told mum about it.
Mum went out and saw…

Typhoon signal number 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It lasted for 10 hours.
I was bored so we watched the TV as it was typhoon signal number 10.
We didn’t go out because we were afraid that the trees in our platform will collapse and hurt us.
I slept at 9:00 and it was typhoon number 8.
 
 
YAWN!
7:00 Monday 17th September and I didn’t need to go to school. Why? Because the EDB said everyone does not need to go to school. Dad was still sleeping. I peeked over to my brother’s bed … nothing. That means that my brother is outside. I went to the living room and saw the news on. It was typhoon signal number 3.
On the East rail line, the people to different sides had to be on the same platform because the rail was damaged by falling trees. Most of the bus services were suspended. Everyone had to take the MTR so there were a lot of people waiting at the station platform. Many people had to wait for more than an hour.
I felt they were very poor. I am lucky that I didn’t need to go to school.
At that night, the EDB announced students don’t need to go to school tomorrow but I received a HLG from my teachers
 
Tuesday was not interesting.
Nothing good to do.
Mum was at work.
The dogs were playing.
Except that my brother was free so he played with me.
However I didn’t play too long because I had to do my homework.

The club at my village suffered quite badly. A fence fell down, tree's fell into the swimming pool, tree fell onto the playground and a lot more.

This typhoon may have been downgraded from super to severe, but severe caused a lot of damage. Imagine what it would be like if the typhoon was a super typhoon!
