This quote is helpful because it explains how must juveniles frontal lobe is still developing. The front lobe of the brain is responsible for impulse control and desision maiking. WIthout this part of their brain fully devleloped, juveniles are likely to make decisons they would not make as adults. If juveniles cannout fully understand the consiquences of their actions, they should not be punished the same as an adult. Adults not only know better, but their brain is completely developed and they can reconginize the severity of their mistakes.

This quote is important because it establishes that courts are against the death pentality. Courts have already recognized that childern think differently from adults and therfore should not have them same punishments. Juveniles will act out wihtout fully understanding what they are doing. This is becasue they cannot comprehend their actions. While adults simply ignore the part of their brain that helps them understand the consequences, juveniles do not have it. Or atleast thier frontal lobe is not fully functional.

This quote is important becuase it expands on the idea that juvenile are able to change their way of thinking. Juveniles still have their whole life ahead of them and plenty of time to re-think their actions and realise commiting murder is morally wrong.

This Quote proves that some juveniles are eventually able to feel remorse and regret thier decision. However, if they are thrown behind bars it's two lives that have been wasted instead of one. Charles Dutton later went on to acomplish great things in his life. A life that would have been wasted due to one mistake. Charles feels regret for taking a life but their is no way that life can be re-eastblished. If the courts have already declared that the death penality is not humane, what's the difference from dying and living your life begind bars?
