This explains why Yoni is so excited when he sees the goldfish inside of Sergei's house. From Sergei's point of view we know that Sergei doesn't like people knocking on his door, due to what had happened in his childhood. Also, he thinks Yoni is going to take his magical goldfish away from him. This influences our understanding of the narrative by allowing us to see that the story could have taken a different path and the murderous event avoided had Yonatan simply introduced himself nicely and calmly rather than barging in and being rude, causing Sergei to believe he was there to take his goldfish.
Yoni also knows what he plans to do with all the clips he has collected, something Sergei is once again unaware of. This causes us to understand why Sergei was initially taken aback by Yonatan shoving a camera in his face and invading his privacy.
Another thing Sergei does not know is Yoni's cultural background.
