One point Martin Luther made was that the pope should not be the head of the church; the pope's authority is purely human invention, and the council can mess up so the bible should be the main source of authority. Another point made was that one can earn salvation by faith alone and not on just good deeds. Martin Luther would approve of how certain historians portray him depending their bias. If they had a Catholic background, they would most likely believe that Luther was a heretic. Others believed he was courageous for standing up for what he believed by creating his own religion based on what he knew and studied about the bible.
