Here as a therapeutic radiographer it is necessary to make sure you have the right patient by asking two main questions: Date of Birth and First Line of Address.
It is also important to let the patient know what to expect as a LINAC machine.
The explanation goes back to how LINAC moves different in comparison to CT.
Key things to mention are: tattoos, referring numbers and communication between staff members to align those tattoos and to let them know that although we will leave them in the room we will be watching them and ask them to wave if they need any help.
Lastly how long will the treatment will take.

Although by this point patient will know the side effects, it is very important to recall these as they might do not remember what the clinician told them (due to being worry or having some nerves). As a HCPC we need to ensure patient understand the side effects and by consenting again to proceed with their treatment.
Also, if patients needs to comply with any drinking or bowel protocol, here is where we explain this better and reinforce the importance of this in relation to side effects.

Here patient is given the lattes appointment list and it is good practice to put a start on it, so that patient do not get confuse.
It is important to explain that although they might be treated in different LINACS treatment would be the same, but most importantly that, staff will be looking after them.
Also it is important to mention the review days as these would be the days the clinicians will see them to access any presented side effects.
Also to recall the need to check -in in reception and then wait near their LINAC.
The booklet is necessary as this will have their contact number in case their are running late.
it is important to let them know that we will not leave them without having their treatment.
