They met with several deplorables, but one in particular was a woman named Suong (fog) Tran. She had a servant (slave) that caught Morgan's attention. Suong asked him if he was interested in that servant, and offered the boy for a sexual nature. 

Morgan agrees, but mostly to keep the boy from actually being abused. He makes an offer to buy the boy, and names him Arthur. Arthur has been working for Morgan ever since. They have become excellent friends. 

Morgan pays for Arthur to go to school. He forges documents to make Arthur a legit person (by law). He also provides health care for some long term effects of being in the sex industry. 

The initial conflict where Morgan meets Imani is surrounding Morgan getting information about Arthur's origin. He was meeting with a former sex trafficker who provided Morgan with information the following information:
1. Arthur's real name is Wyatt Thayne
2. He was abducted at the age of 6 from a park in Oak Park, Tennessee
3. He was abducted October 22nd
4. Tran wanted him specifically because she adored his red hair
5. He was featured in at least 20 child pornography videos*

*Morgan and Arthur stumbled across one as adults during their research; it triggered a break down. Morgan gets into it with one of Qureshi's men over payment, and while Morgan gets beat up, Qureshi admires the kid's tenacity. Qureshi offers to employ the kid at a higher rate than the construction job, which Morgan accepts. Qureshi also helps Morgan secure housing and childcare for Eleonore. 

Qureshi forces Morgan back into school, and Morgan works for Qureshi after school in the following roles: a messenger, a delivery boy, a bodyguard. Qureshi mentors the boy's affinity for business and ultimately sells his legitimate business to Morgan, and when he retires, he also has Morgan take over his illegitimate businesses as well.

Morgan currently pays Qureshi about $1 million a year. Qureshi now spends his retired time in Florida and New York with his children (he has three daughters). His wife has passed away. Qureshi had hoped Morgan would marry one of his daughters, however, neither Morgan or his daughters showed much interest.

While Qureshi was an illegitimate business man who engaged in occasional unethical practices, he was generally good. He only killed those he absolutely had to, and regulated drugs trafficking in the Dowden area tightly. Morgan has continued these practices.

Klooth and Rohlik are not necessarily in direct competition as Klooth owns a technology firm, and Rohlik owns hotels. However, both have considered moving into the apartment/real estate business. 

Their main conflict is over Imani. Rohlik offers to take care of her debts in exchange for a less demanding debt collector. This irritates Klooth because he was starting to enjoy her. On top of that, Rohlik moves to buy Imani's apartment complex, which was also the complex Klooth was considering buying. On top of that, Rohlik has prevented the landing and sales of Klooth controlled drugs from entering his establishments. He typically causes problems with his pharmaceutical sales and dramatic scenes he plays out in the lobbies of Rohlik's establishments. But what's worse is he has been known to murder people; he is inept at using poisons and crushed pills. Zander is essentially an assassin who hides behind the curtain of being a pharmaceutical rep. Ironically, he is a very well trained physician as well, and often has the ability to help others but simply chooses not to. 

This choice is what really upsets Rohlik about Zander; why have the ability to help but choose not to?
