Mr. Yin said on Wednesday that an outdoor theme park at Resorts World Genting, Malaysia's only licensed casino complex, may open in the first quarter of next year, based on the company's theme park division's recent hiring ads.

In November last year, the casino company announced it had launched a $1 billion lawsuit against Walt Disney Co, Fox Entertainment Group LLC and some of its affiliates, alleging bad faith in the theme park project that was supposed to use the Fox brand in the United States. Defendants filed a counterclaim in January this year.

Genting Malaysia blamed "seller remorse" on Fox's behalf, as a key part of the latter brand was being acquired by Walt Disney Co.
