The way that elevation zones affect culture in the Andes is by how they adapt. People grow different crops at each level. Their lungs adjust to these high elevations. People wear different clothes to adjust to this climate; they adjust their homes, they also have different traditions like pachamama, which is where they give thanks and offerings to pachamama, which is Mother Earth, and they do these to ensure blessings and good harvests. The people in the Andes see the mountains as living entities, which is home to apus, the guardians of the land. They also have advanced agricultural practices to cultivate crops like potatoes, maize, and quinoa, and they have also developed effective food preservation to keep food for more longer.
