I selected photography because I like the range of feelings it can cause in viewers. I want to establish a relationship with my audience and express my message effectively. The most effective approach for others to understand my viewpoint and fully understand my message, in my opinion, is to use photography as a medium of communication. I can effectively express myself through photography, which also allows me to share my viewpoint with others. The subject I chose is significant and delicate in our culture. The audience's comprehension of my point of view is essential for me to accomplish my goal, which is the reason why I chose photography as my medium.

Short explanation of how these will be utilized

Photo 1:

1. Mirror:
One of the artistic elements that I will incorporate is a mirror. I plan to use this mirror to capture the reflection of a young woman looking at it, while capturing the photograph from my perspective but showing what the girl sees in the mirror. Essentially, my goal is to capture an image that portrays the girl looking at herself in the mirror, with her reflection that represents a fatter version of her, which is not like that, but she thought it was because of body dysmorphia. In doing so, I intend to convey the idea that when faced with body dysmorphia, one's perception often overrides rational thought, resulting in the creation of a distorted self-image. The mirror assumes significant prominence within this composition, as its absence would hinder my ability to effectively communicate the intended message.

2. Light:
Another artistic symbol that I will employ in my photography is the lighting. In my opinion, light has the power to convey the atmosphere and the emotion I wish to express. By using darker lighting, I can express a more negative and somber ambiance. Conversely, employing brighter and radiant light will convey a happier and more positive atmosphere. Considering the subject of my photograph and the issue I am addressing, I will utilize dark lighting to express a more negative and nostalgic environment. This approach will help me convey the impoertance of the problem and make viewers truly feel the photographer's degree of negativity as they should.

3. Edicion:
In the case of my photography, I am going to edit it in the reflection of the mirror to accentuate the message even more. In the reflection I am going to edit the body of my model in a more obese way, to explain the subject more and to understand it in this way, the contrast, distortion and insecurity in the image will be emphasized. Editing is going to be one of the most important symbols of this photo because that way I am going to explain my message since I am going to reflect the thought and vision of my model having the body dysmorphia disease. It will help me to make my photography more understandable and more expressive for the public.

Photo 2:

1. Facial expression :
The third element of art that I am going to use is facial expression. I chose that element because facial expression seems very relevant to this work, because it expresses the feeling that the person feels when looking in the mirror. I want the face to transmit a sad and disappointed emotion that makes the public understand how she feels when seeing her fatter body due to the problem that I am transmitting: body dysmorphia. On the other hand, it could express frustration or anxiety to capture the internal struggle experienced by the person with body dysmorphophobia.

2. Color:
In the case of photograph 2, I will use a color palette that helps convey the emotional state associated with body dysmorphophobia. I will opt for cold and dark colors to represent sadness and anxiety in my model. In my opinion, color in art photographs... represent and transmit many messages to the audience, and in my case, since this is a problem that causes disappointment, anxiety, frustration and more, I will use depressive, dark colors to express feelings. I will try to use colors like black, white, gray... Image 2 focuses on the face of my model, which is a sad and disappointed face and by combining her facial expression with the colors used I will cause a sad atmosphere so that the audience understands better the topic.

3. Selective focus:
Selective focus is a photography technique in which a specific area of the image is highlighted while the rest is blurred or out of focus. I personally am going to use this art element to focus on the face of my actress and in this way blur the entire background so that the viewer connects directly with the emotions that I want to convey: sadness and disappointment. By focusing on the face of my model I will be able to convey her feelings and emotions and I will be able to express the subject in greater depth so that they understand how one feels about this problem and how difficult it can be for most people who live this issue in their lives.

Photo 3:

1. Corporal expresion
The third photo is about a real life gut zoom and reflection, so I will use the expression body art element. This will reflect emotions such as sadness, frustration or anxiety body language to capture the internal struggle experienced by someone with body dysmorphophobia. I will tell my model to have her hands touching her belly to express the insecurity and frustration she has when seeing her body like this and in this way convey the emotions she feels about it for the public to have a better understanding.

2. Texture
In photo 3 I am also going to take advantage of the texture of the elements present in the image to add depth and express emotions, therefore my second art element is going to be texture. I want more texture to be displayed in the reflection of my image to show the details of obesity and to be able to see and reflect the change more accurately and clearly. Since my model is skinnier than what is seen in the reflection by editing the reflection I am going to cause more depth and more detail to make more specific the change that her mind makes her visualize.

3. Perspective:
In photograph 3 I will use perspective of the photo. Since I am only going to show the belly from a perspective that only sees the wadding, from reality I am going to show the belly of my model but it will also be possible to see the wadding more focused and thicker. With this perspective closer to my model, I will be able to show more clearly the difference that body dysmorphia causes with reality and what makes us see the issue, we will notice the change that our own imagination generates by editing the reflection in the mirror. I want to make the change that this issue makes us understand that makes you believe that you are gaining more weight but in truth it is only our imagination because of our insecurities and with that photograph describe and represent my main theme.

People with body dysmorphic disorder, a mental health issue, become obsessed with perceived imperfections in their physical appearance, leading to constant anxiety and worry. They might spend a lot of time looking at their appearance in the mirror, keeping their distance from people, hiding their body, and seeking affirmation from others. Although the precise causes are unknown, it is believed that genetic, chemical, and environmental factors may play a role. Professional assistance is essential because treatment may involve both psychological counseling and medication. A person's appearance does not define them, so having the support of loved ones is crucial.

One method to preserve precious memories is through photography. The photographer discusses how we may express ourselves and communicate tales through photos without using words. It is a means of recording the environment we live in and preserving memories for future generations. The article focuses on how photography can be a potent tool for expression and a method to see the beauty in ordinary things.

This video starts by explaining that since she was a child, she has been comparing herself to others, magazines, and social media. She found it exhausting and impossible to meet all the requirements she believed were necessary to be beautiful, like having a smaller waist, a small nose, and big lips. She also expresses how astonishing it is that nowadays, with social media, you can completely change your face or even your body with a filter. We start to get used to seeing ourselves with filters and it changes our perspective of our own face. Social media is detrimental to mental health.

People with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) believe there is something wrong with their physical appearance. They obsess over their appearance for eight hours a day, and it is more common in women than in men. People with BDD focus more on details rather than the overall image. They fixate on small parts of their face or body, and their brain magnifies the imperfections, making them believe in a distorted image. This can lead to depression. Some people opt for surgery on the body part they see as imperfect, but that doesn't solve anything because the problem lies within us, in our minds, not in our physical appearance. So, no matter how much you change, your mind will keep searching for imperfections. Instead of spending money on surgery, invest it in your mental health, such as seeking therapy with a psychologist.

I've come to understand that it affects many more people than simply a select handful, many of whom go unnoticed while they livin it. My objective is to increase understanding of body dysmorphia and its psychological effects. I want to show people's perceptions of their bodies and how they warped in their poin of view, resulting in issues with mental health and general dissatisfaction. I hope that by using photography to express my ideas, I might make people feel less alone and promote candid conversations about these issues. Getting over body dysmorphia requires both asking for help and embracing oneself as one is.
