Where is the church?

IN these woods. None of us have seen it. WE only hear of it from those who return from it.

Where is the portal?

There is no portal. There are no more demons. The people and creatures come from the church. I can say it is north of our fort, maybe more west of here.

Where is the stag lord?

you can follow this river South until you see the lake. Our fort is there. But there is nothing you can do. We are 100 strong and more. Some of use sleep in the fort, some of us sleep in yurts nearby. We are many and we are growing.

Have you seen the staglord?

I have seen him wave from high in our fort. I have seen him ride off on the back of a large elk. Biggest elk I ever saw even in the stolen lands.

What is this place?

Once, I don't know. It was perhaps a place for children. There were bassinets everywhere insidewhen the first of us arrived hear. The painting under the carpet looks like portal. I don't know. Yiou can see. we stay here to not be bothered by these trifling faeries or feyfolk. sometimes there are snakes. It is good palce to sleep. We built the archery place.

How do you worship Erastil when you follow no laws and steal from innocents?

People of law collect taxes. We collect taxes. Peasants choose to be peasants. It's a good life. I once lead it myself. Much drink and food and festivals. But then you are attacked by someone with less. You should share or be attacked. I choose not to be attacked and share. IF Erastil does not favor us, our cleric would have no power. but she does.

WE found three sets of prints besides you four. Where are they?

They rode by Oleg's and saw four hanging with a god symbol on their chests. They wanted to run back to camp with haste. She, Kressle, leads us and refused to leave. SHe is in love with Happs. She wanted to rest and then go for his body, so we stay. Those three, they wanted to wait for more to go get body. And she says here is closer to where Happs may come back.

A concern to come to the material plane is where my spirit would go were I to die on the material plane. I was told to serve Erastil and demonstrate worship. The more I do, I suppose, the safer I will be when I die. I was told to die within an area Erastil warded. He wards with totems. An antler, I figure, is a small totem.

Some Stag lord magic perhaps?

I don't serve the Stag Lord. I just leave him alone as promised. I often wonder how he would taste were he to come near me on a full moon when I cannot control my hunger.

The Stag Lord

He can be find either in the fort (getting drunk and sleeping or riding his large elk), in Pitax, trading and dealing with an unknow citizen, or praying at a statue northwest of the Fort. Some other people are said to go there as well, druids and priests. From the fort, follow the skunk river upstream north until you find a stream that feeds the Skunk. Follow that stream also upstream and there will be a small waterfall. The statue is among it.

The bandit's fort

According to Jorga, most of the bandits will leave the surrondings of the fort a few days before the fullmoon comes. The lands will become very dangerous at that moment as foul creatures will invade the steppe.  Bandits will leave for Pitax for shelter and amusement.

Bandits will recognize each others by asking who they know. This may take a while. They may cite a poem if there is more trouble. We learn a new poem every new moon. Bandits have a secret poem that one must recite in order to enter the fort. Forhzo learned it.

The Stag lord should not have his mount in the night of the full moon he and should be drinking heavily. The next morning would be the best time to attack.

Tax procedure

New moon comes and we ride at night North. We stay at Thornriver Camp. Then we divide into 3 small groups of 3 or 4. The next day, three more groups come who will travel farther into the Rostlands. Then another 3 groups. Then another. This will go on for I don't know how long, about half the time between the new moon and the full moon. The staglord needs days to send us to pitax.
Demons

It's been said that Fey, werewolves and demons will appear when the full moon shines. Weaker demons that were'nt chased off during the purge will roam the stolen land in such days and thus make it unsafe for anybody to stay outside walled camps or forts.
Kobolds

They have a radish patch in the woods that seem to be magical. Kobolds guard them. Bandits trade weapons to them for gold dust. The Kobolds steal also from the peasant Rostlanders. They like to grind gold and trade us with gold dust. We ask for coins. They never have them. They seem to always want dust or small nuggets. WE have someone that will speak with them in Kobold Draconic but I know little from her.

- The Stag lord is a man and not half elk/half man. He rides a dire elk and uses a composite bow from horseback with a sneak attack (Matt rolled a 5d6 damage - I'm not sure if we were supposed to see this). He rides with a druid.

- Calistria coerced Erastil to follow her into the maelstrom where she has abandoned him, so Erastil's power is weakened dramatically on the material plane.

- Therefore, the Stag Lord cannot (should not) be receiving powers from Erastil. They must be receiving powers from elsewhere.

- The cottage that we found is part of a former occultist spot / orphanage for half demon children. They were brought there to be kept safe but were instead killed. Has possible ties to Keezy's history.

- These occultists at the cottage possibly worshiped Gyronna (sp?) - evidenced by the bloody eye beneath the rug.

- We've met a man at Oleg's who claims to be a priest of Erastil and wants us to travel with him to a cave in his dreams. The cave is guarded by a bear and is an Erastilian sanctuary from years long forgotten in the Stolen Lands. The priest claims that in his dreams he is seeing the world change around the sanctuary, indicating in the last 50ish (?) years the Stolen Lands have somehow been affected by the mirror plane.

- Bouche is currently in the maelstrom seeking information about a Fey that is pulling people from the maelstrom into the mirror plane. He is also seeking information about the maelstrom.

- While staying the night in the cottage, 5 Thawns (creatures from the maelstrom) attacked the cottage seeking Bijoux. Her past has returned to haunt her. When she was young she discovered a rift to the maelstrom in a tunnel beneath the Sellen River. Bijoux stepped into the portal and taken to the maelstrom. While in the maelstrom Bijoux's past memories were manifested and Bouche became a construct of her mind, living in the maelstrom, but able to be summoned for short intervals to the material plane. Through her obsession to understand the maelstrom and return to Bouche, she sent over 60 people through the portal by pretending to be a "healer" of the impoverished and diseased of Pitax (a large majority of the population). The Thawns have been pulled from the material plane by a Fey and sent to the mirror plane where they have become enlarged and are now seeking Bijoux in the material plane.

So stand on a 100 foot cliff, for example, and you can see for about 12 miles! Now you can make a more detailed map...just find the high points. The sightglass will not help you see farther, but see more objects within that distance. The sightglass does not get to see past the earth's curvature. Duh, you guys.

The link above is how to measure distance and angles with your body. Anyone with Knowledge Geography at 5 ranks could start doing this and your maps will be accurate for distance. Right now your map is not quite accurate for distance. When Khlit gets to level 5, she can have 5 ranks...or is it level 4? She only levels up with the party when she's present for the action. Forzho gets to level up with the party. Then, Khlit will get DC 20s to make your maps. ASsistance and Luck and Guidance all will help make a perfect map. I will start cutting pieces out of the "objective map" upon successful checks. +2s come from using an Astrolabe.

Mapmaker kit: 10GP, needed to make a real map at all. This is not needed for party's use, but needed for official use to the Council.

Astrolabe: 100GP, needed to measure distance for a +2 to check. Needed for when the maps are made official to the Council. (There is a sextant for sale in Path rules, but I will not allow it.)

The Liacenzas, for whom we conduct our affairs have acted very quickly. They have raided all along the boundary that separates the Cattanei from the Liacenza turf. They did so very suddenly and with obvious external assistance in muscle.

We here have been asked to keep our ears perked for anything. We have heard a lot of information from the Cattaneis who visit us, but we have little reason to share with the Liacenzas though they are our employers.

Svrim, your contact has disappeared suddenly. We have investigated and the only thing we have found was that one, the bed he disappeared from was covered in flower petals. He was sharing the room with two others who were in their beds with throats cut. The possibilities are an assassin from the Liacenzas or the farmers that stayed here. They were quiet, unassuming, and did not seem to arise any suspicion except that we almost never see farmers patronize our high end services. Pitax farmers are famous for having some sort of mysterious ability which has given them the ability to remain as farmers without an army to protect them in the River Kingdoms where warlords raid and raze regularly. We may even assume Cattaneis conducted the assassination as they are connected with a Church that provides very apt bodyguards and assassin clerics, but these clerics are rare and only used for very high stakes assassinations.

We have mapped much of what we were asked. Enclosed is a copy of our map. WE need to move people in quickly. there are extraplanar fey moving in. We have learned a bigger threat that a mirror plane will take over the lands. It is a battle of perception. WE need material creatures to perceive the stolen lands and not fey so that it becomes more difficult to bottle the stolen lands into the First World. WE are not mad. This is from our investigation and our summoners knowledge of extraplanary activity. On that, we have lost our party member. It seems they have warped to the Maelstrom. Please find someone who can retrieve our companion. WE know the maelstrom is a horror where to be lost.
