Sully's life experiences have not been the best. His wife is gone, he survived a plane crash, he served time in prison, and is left to be a single dad. When the phone calls from Heaven, Sully does not believe one ounce of the story. Sully tries to find ways to debunk the story. Sully does not believe in Heaven for the longest time because his life has been so hard. His mind does a complete flip, and Sully is a believer. Even though all of them were involved with the situation about people receiving phone calls from Heaven, I felt like most of the characters did not relate to each other. There were so many characters I sometimes felt lost and forgot who was friends with who, and who was married to who, etc. I think the characters could have been described in a more detailed way. When thinking about past life experiences of characters, there was not much detail. There are mentions of children, husbands, and wives of characters. Each person who received a phone call had their lives change dramatically. After the community gathering at the local high school in Coldwater, lives are changed. I would have each main character who received a phone call share their testimony of the phone call. Examples would include Tess, Katherine, Jack, and Elias. The community of Coldwater would feel a sense of relief and calmness if they listened to each person's Heaven phone call. Many people around the community are puzzled over the Heaven conversation. I believe if people shared their testimonies, the community of Coldwater would be educated to form their own opinion of the phone calls.
