Blueberries in Colombia have been since 2009 when agro-industrial cultivation was approved, from this moment the crops and growers have been growing because people in Colombia are joining the global wave of taking care of health, the blueberry is a spectacular fruit in that sense since they have many benefits for people at a nutritional level,  the blueberry sector of the population is increasingly increasing, both for consumption and for the pharmaceutical and medicinal industry. 

The blueberry crops in Colombia are located mostly in the region of altiplano cundiboyacense, because it has the perfect conditions for the cultivation of this and an advantage is added, which is that by producing above 2200 meters the fruits manage to accumulate more sugars which makes them very attractive in international markets,  most blueberry crops in Colombia are in the height range between 2600 m and 3000 m with reference to sea level. According to the Colombian Association of Blueberry Growers, Colombia has a competitive advantage to export blueberries, which is that it can be produced 52 weeks a year thanks to the geographical location on the equator, this allows entry to markets such as the United States that have high demand for fruit all year round. 

In Colombia the consumption of blueberries occurs in all people since it is not a product that is easily used in smoothies, or natural consumption. Most of the 20 people who consume this product do so to have a balanced and healthy diet, which over the years has been growing, this has generated that it has more demand. 

 The United States being the first importer of blueberries in the world has 55.8% of the world blueberries, becoming the main buyer of this product; followed by China and the United Kingdom.  

It can be evidenced in figure 3 that exports to these countries have been growing exponentially over time, this is because the demand for product continues to grow as well as crops in the world; the commercial value of the product in the market fluctuates depending on the availability of the product.

·         People who seek to meet requirements of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients to improve cognition and prevent the degeneration of neurons.

·         Children between 7 and 10 years old as a supplement to NT 020, for the increase in information processing.

·         People with urinary tract infections.

·         People with anti-inflammatory needs of the immune system against foreign and potentially lethal invaders.

·         People looking for reduction of signs of aging, such as wrinkles, age spots, and acne.

·         People with long-term anticancer food consumption needs.
