Pros:

• The platform offers you an unlimited number of elements to create your classes, such as fonts, images, videos, animations, etc. Therefore, you do not need to use external elements to meet the needs of your class and your students.

How to use Canva for Lesson Planning?

As an English teacher, I mainly use this platform to create presentations for different classes and courses. In my case from 4th to 7th grade. For example, for a 5th grade class where the aim is for students to express their food preferences and classify foods as healthy or unhealthy, I can use a pre-designed food template and start editing and integrating the necessary resources for the class.

Microsoft Copilot is Microsoft's generative artificial intelligence chatbot. Yes, basically AI to help you with everything and extremely useful for teaching material.

Pros:

• In terms of teaching, copilot can be helpful in creating activities, readings, worksheets, quizzes, instructions, etc.

• It can help to create stories and images that motivate and reinforce students' engagement with the lesson.

• It is very detailed and always offers alternatives to improve or be more accurate in terms of what is required.

Cons:

• Copilot may not be as precise in creating images, you have to give it a lot of context. Sometimes it does not quite get to the main idea.

Copilot is used to create activities, texts and instructions for English lessons. For example, he was asked to develop a text about healthy and unhealthy food for 5th grade students, and to create a true/false item to test comprehension of the text. Pros:

• It provides resources in different formats for you to use according to your needs.

• You can integrate the material into your presentations, print them out or work on them live with your class.

• Sometimes it is not very precise when you answer, it can consider a right answer as a wrong one.

Baamboozle is a learning game platform that offers a variety of games on different topics and content to apply and play with students.

Pros:

• You do not require students to have an electronic device.

• Very quick and ideal for engaging students to the lesson, you can complete the activity in 5 to 10 minutes.

Cons:

• The teacher has to be the one who manages and monitors that the rules of the game are respected.

How to use Baamboozle in an English Lesson?

This platform is mostly used at the beginning of the lesson, in order to engage students to the lesson, activate students' prior knowledge or to introduce new English vocabulary or content. Teams are divided into 3 (according to the number of rows in the room), then one student from each row is asked to indicate a number (box) to answer. The team with the most points wins. There are elements such as stealing points, losing points or just going to first place! which makes it even more exciting for the students.

Gimkit can be played in various phases or activities of an English lesson. In my case, in a 7th grade, after explaining and reviewing the structure of the simple past in all its forms, the students used their mobile devices to join in and play gimkit to test their knowledge of the structure of the simple past and irregular verbs. While playing, they can use power-ups, see their ranking or use other game elements to take advantage. They always will ask for one more round after finish it.

How to use Edpuzzle in an English Lesson?

In English classes it is used to check students' listening skills right away. Edpuzzle allows you to embed videos from Youtube or directly from the computer and add questions at different times of the video to check students' comprehension. For instance, in a 5th grade class, where we wanted students to understand a dialogue in English about greetings and manners, we used a video from Youtube and integrated it into Edpuzzle. As the video progresses, questions arise about the video. To answer, a vote is taken among all the students to come up with an answer. The platform immediately indicates whether the answer is correct or not.

As an English teacher, ClassDojo allows me to communicate with my students outside of the classroom. I can send worksheets, quizzes from other platforms, announcements or just say hello to them. In addition, it can also be used in the classroom, as it has a point management system, which can motivate students to participate in activities, do assignments, help others, etc. Also, I can easily track students´ behavior. Each student has his or her own character which can be customized.

Kahoot is a gaming and learning platform that presents trivia in an entertaining, interactive and engaging manner. It can be utilized both in the classroom and at home by assigning quizzes.

• User-friendly for both the teacher and the students.

How to use Kahoot for Homework?

As an English homework, through the ClassDojo platform, I can use kahoot to assign each of my students a homework assignment. Where I can determine the number of days they will have to complete the assigned homework. Through the results I can monitor the strengths and weaknesses of my students, allowing me to address the weaknesses and work on them in the classroom.
