         <description><![CDATA[<div>45% of the population between 16-85 will experience a mental disorder in their lifetime. 20% of this population have experienced a mental disorder in the last 12 months. Anxiety, depression and substance abuse are the three most common disorders linked to mental illnesses and disorders. $9.9 Billion was spent on mental health in 2017-2018. 4.3 million people received mental health related prescriptions in 2018-2019.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1 in 4 young people aged 15-19 met the criteria for having a probable serious mental illness.(Rising from 18.7% in 2012-22.8% in 2016. <br>1 in 7( 14% or 560,000) people aged between 4-17 had a mental disorder in the last 12 months. Most common illnesses were anxiety, ADHD and depression. Serious mental illnesses continues to rise amongst young Australians. <br>3 in 10(31.6%) young Aboriginals are likely to suffer serious mental illness.<br>Top 3 issues of personal concern for young people meeting the criteria for a serious mental illness were coping with stress, school or study problems and depression.<br>Females were twice as likely as males in the ages 15-19 to meet the criteria for a probable serious mental health illness.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>SOCIAL: </strong>stress, social status, traumatic events, isolation, discrimination, poverty, unemployment.<br><strong>PHYSICAL: </strong>hereditary conditions, Stressful life situations, chronic medical conditions, Body types.<br><strong>EMOTIONAL: </strong>low self esteem, autism, dysfunctional family life, death or divorce, loneliness, anger, anxiety, cultural expectations.<br><strong>COGNITIVE/INTELLECTUAL: </strong>autism, psychological trauma, suffered as a child, sexual abuse, early loss (such as death of parent), neglect.<br><strong>SPIRITUAL HEALTH/WELLBEING: </strong>PTSD, overall a strong spiritual connection had a positive effect on young people's mental health.</div>]]></description>

Strong ties with family, friends and the community provide us with happiness, security, support and a sense of purpose.          <title>Resilience and its importance for good mental health</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Psychologists define resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress- such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors.<br><br>Resilience can help protect you from various mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. Resilience can also help offset factors that increase the risk of mental health conditions, such as being bullied or previous trauma.<br><br><strong>5 pillars of resilience:<br></strong>- self awareness<br>- mindfulness<br>- self care<br>- positive relationship<br>- purpose<br><br><strong>Being more resilient in ordinary life could mean that we: </strong><br>- Take criticism well rather than getting defensive and losing our temper.<br>- Process grief and loss in a healthy way, rather than trying to avoid it or allowing ourselves to be consumed by it.<br>- Developing and strengthening emotional insight.<br><br><br>Relevant original video:</div>]]></description>
