Srivastava and Sharma (2016) conducted a study entitled, “Financial Inclusion – A study of Rural Area of Udaipur district, Rajasthan”. The objectives of the study were to assess the banking habits among the people and to examine the financial services awareness among the households, residing in Udaipur district, Rajasthan. The study was based on descriptive research design; non-probability convenience judgemental sampling was used for the study. The sample comprised of 120 households (family decision makers) residing in rural areas of Udaipur city. Both primary and secondary data were collected for the study. The primary data were collected through interview schedule and secondary data sources used for developing theoretical base for both research reports and questionnaire design and it is collected through books, journals, websites, newspapers and official reports of Indian Government and RBI from time to time. Descriptive statistical tools like mean and standard deviation were used for data analysis. The results revealed that only 85 respondents had bank accounts and overall awareness of financial services was at an average level. Few services like deposit account, loan facility, life insurance and cattle insurance were commonly known to the households. The reasons behind such reflection were less family income and lack of formal financial institution in rural and remote areas. It was suggested in the study that there is a need to address the issues like education, income, financial literacy, bankers’ co-operation and customer relationship management etc. at the top priority so that the general mass may be included in the main stream of financial inclusion.

Nandru, Anand and Rentala (2015) did a study, “Factors influencing Financial Inclusion through Banking Services.” The study aimed to investigate the factors that affect the usage of banking services in increasing financial inclusion in Pondichery region. The data for the research was based on individual level survey and collected through structured questionnaire from 200 people selected through convenience sampling method. Analysis of primary data using factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed to understand the relationship between dependent variable and other independent variables. Findings of the study revealed that most of the respondents showed interest regarding the usage of a few banking products namely education loan and the mortgage loan facility through bank which were found to be convenient to use. The results indicated that easiness in accessing bank products and purpose of opening bank account had significant influence on usage frequency of banking services. Physical distance of bank branch and convenience were not found to have significant impact on usage of banking services in the study. Information and communication technology (ICT) also seemed to have a significant impact on financial inclusion. It was suggested that banks can use findings of the study to revise appropriate strategy to increase financial inclusion status in various states.
