This is my senior portfolio, this a collection of all my artwork in the past school year here at BTSOA.
      A piece I’d love to talk about in this portfolio is this work titled “Coffee Shop Days”. This piece is a short comic of two original characters named Dev and Stinx, they work in a coffee/flower shop and it is implied that they used to date. I would like to dive deeper in story telling with my art, I love writing comics and it’s something I would love to do more of in the future. I want to learn more about formatting panels and writing in my art.
      While making this piece I struggle with figuring out how I wanted my piece to look like. When I sketched out the idea, I only had an idea for two panels and no three. The top one was a panel that I decided to add in as I made it, I wanted to show the scenery and where they were. It’s hard for me to do backgrounds and scenes and I hope I will learn more on how to do them in college. I am proud of how it all came together, I really liked adding in the dialogue. The dialogue makes you really learn how the characters personalities are without knowing everything about the character.
      I loved comics since I was a kid, my parents always let me indulge in different types of media and it helped me be the creative I am today. Since I was 5 I remembered owning Sailor Moon comics and watching shows like Naruto and Dragon Ball, at the time it was really weird and I used to get bullied for it but now anime culture is thriving and I am so happy to see it! I have always been encouraged to express my art and considering the media I always consumed it was inevitable that this would be my career choice.
If I did this again I would approach the media differently by doing it digitally. I love drawing on my tablet because it had been years since I was able to draw digitally and now I can’t get enough of it. I want to make a web comic in the future so this would be great practice!
