The reason why I would not hire this person with this document is because I felt that the letter was a bit informal. I really liked that the applicant listed the experiences that are, no doubt, relevant to the position, but I think that there should be more mentioned in the letter, such as the academic and professional qualifications that would make the applicant a more memorable candidate. If more academic and professional qualifications met could be input into the letter, I think that my final decision noted above would change.

I would not hire this person because the format of the cover letter was not professional. The header was too large, and "to whom it may concern" is not the correct way to address a company or a hiring manager. Finally, I wish that the quality work experience was expanded upon. The given information may allow this individual to be a good teacher, but I wish she went deeper with why she loved to teach. She could also include her personality traits and her past education, to give the reader a better understanding of who she is as an individual.

Unfortunately I would have to turn down this applicant if I were the one hiring. All of the required information was there, but everything needed to be further explained. This cover letter lacked detail, and emotion. People that wish to be teachers, especially those of younger aged children, happen to be very passionate about their future in that field. If she would have added why she wanted this job, and added more specific details of why she would make a good elementary school teacher, I would reconsider my decision of not hiring.

Although the cover letter expresses the qualifications of this person, I would unfortunately turn this person down. The reason for my decision is there is a lack of professionalism. It seems almost like they were trying to tell a friend why they think they should get a job, rather than an employer. Again, the qualifications are there and anybody would be lucky to have this person working at their elementary school.
