The OT would primarily focus on sensory integration techniques that the behavior therapist can address in their sessions with the student. Both of these specialist can collaborate in co-treatment sessions whether it is in a therapy room or in an educational context to further address the student’s needs to reduce unwanted behavior and sensory issues.

While OT is targeting the patient various aspect of occupation the SLP would be targeting language deficits, issues with communication, and dysphagia. Both practices can collaborate with each other on interventions such as a cooking activity that address both functional tasks of daily life and eating and swallowing for SLP.
