The Austrian Hungarian Empire had taken over part of Serbia in a previous war. A Serbian Nationalist Group the Black Hand wished to see this part of land back in control of Serbia. The Black Hand with the help of the Serbian Government killed the heir to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire along with his wife as they were traveling around Sarajevo. This sparked the Austrian-Hungarian Empire declaring war on Serbia sparking World War One. Russia was allied with Serbia and France. Great Britain was allied with France. This led to the allied powers originally being France, Russia, Serbia, and Great Britain. The Axis powers would be Germany and Austria-Hungary.
