Leonardo Pisano Bigollo</a></div><div><br>Contributions:</div><div><a href="http://famous-mathematicians.org/albert-einstein/">The contribution for Albert Einstein is: E=m*c<sup>2.</sup></a>. It was an important equation.</div><div><a href="http://famous-mathematicians.org/albert-einstein/">The contribution for Isaac Newton was: Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy.</a> It was a way to solve problems, I guess.</div><div><a href="http://famous-mathematicians.org/albert-einstein/">The contribution for Leonardo Pisano Bigollo was:&nbsp; Fibonacci sequence.</a> It was another way to solve problems, I guess.</div><div><br>All of these were important to history. The equations and concepts are most likely still used today. Sadly, all of these mathematicians listed here died years or even centuries ago.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Most of us already know who Albert Einstein and Issac Newton were and what they did. So I decided to change things up a little and research some people who are very famous whom you may or may not have ever heard of.<br><br>The three famous mathematicians that I researched were:</div><div>1. Carl Friedrich Gauss</div><div>2. Augusta Ada King-Noel (later known as Ada Lovelace)<br>3. Emmy Noether<br><br><br></div><div><strong>1. Carl Friedrich Gauss&nbsp;</strong></div><div>Gauss is considered to be the greatest German mathematician of the nineteenth century. <strong>His discoveries and writings influenced and left a lasting mark in the areas of number theory, astronomy, geodesy, and physics, particularly the study of electromagnetism.<br></strong><br>(I remember my dad telling me this story once)<br>While in arithmetic class, at the age of ten, Gauss exhibited his skills as a math prodigy when the stern schoolmaster gave the following assignment: "Write down all the whole numbers from 1 to 100 and add up their sum." When each student finished, he was to bring his slate forward and place it on the schoolmaster's desk, one on top of the other. The teacher expected the beginner's class to take a good while to finish this exercise. But in a few seconds, to his teacher's surprise, Carl proceeded to the front of the room and placed his slate on the desk. Much later the other students handed in their slates.</div><div>At the end of the classtime, the results were examined, with most of them wrong. But when the schoolmaster looked at Carl's slate, he was astounded to see only one number: 5,050. Carl then had to explain to his teacher that he found the result because he could see that, 1+100=101, 2+99=101, 3+98=101, so that he could find 50 pairs of numbers that each add up to 101. Thus, 50 times 101 will equal 5,050.</div><div><br><strong>2. Augusta Ada Byron (later known as Ada Lovelace)<br></strong>A gifted mathematician, Ada Lovelace is considered to have written instructions for the first computer program in the mid-1800s. Because she introduced many computer concepts, Ada is considered the first computer programmer. <br><strong>Famous for: Work on the Analytical Engine<br></strong><br><strong>3. Emmy Noether<br>Famous For: </strong><strong><em>Abstract algebra</em></strong><strong><br></strong>Emmy Noether and her work on abstract algebra makes her one of the most important mathematicians of her time. She introduced theories on algebraic variants and number fields. In Noether’s paper, <em>Theory of Ideals in Ring Domains</em>, she presented her ideas on the “commutative ring”, an abstract algebra sub area.<br><br><strong>My Thoughts:<br></strong>How did Gauss figure his method so quickly out when his teacher gave him his assignment??Hmm...let me re-phrase that. How did any of them find what they did out? Did they have help in the process?          <description><![CDATA[<div>HELLO, people from far and near! Today I will be sharing with you some mathematicians who i researched from the fascinating Google. I have carefully selected three amazing mathematicians and share a contribution and my thoughts on them. (townspeople cheer)<br>To begin, my fellow folks, i have selected the one and only ALBERT EINSTEIN! Yep! The man that we all know and love, townspeople! The second man i selected was Leonardo Pisano Bigollo or Fibonacci Yes! You probably know him too! But you most likely don't know this French mathematician. Her name is Sophie Germain! (townspeople start to shout)<br>OK, okay! i'll tell you the contributions and my thoughts! Be patient, townspeople! (townspeople quiet down)<br>1st, Albert Einstein. One of his most famous contributions to math was E=MC squared. I'll explain that. E represents units of energy, m represents units of mass and c 2 is the speed of light squared or multiplied by itself (townspeople are fascinated)<br>2nd Leonardo Pisano Bigollo (Fibonacci) His famous contribution was the Fibonacci sequence (Obviously) The  Fibonacci sequence is a sequence that includes the two numbers before added up to equal the next number. (crowd is fascinated... AGAIN!)<br>And last but not least is  Sophie Germain (not German) Her famous contribution is that she discovered a special case of Fermat's last Theorem.  I tried searching it up and i didn't quit know what it meant. (crowd boos) SORRY, TOWNSPEOPLE!<br><br>Oh well! See ya next time, townspeople! That was it! Thank you for your time! <br>JUST KIDDING! i forgot to share my thoughts with you all!<br><br>My thoughts: All of it is kind of complicated! The Fibonacci sequence is not though!They were all great mathematicians! (crowd cheers) I wonder though... Archimedes of Syracuse is acknowledged to be the greatest of ancient mathematicians. He used a 96 sided polygon to calculate a very accurate approximation of pi to be between 3.1429 and 3.1408. Math is part of StEM so obviously he contributed to the math world. Archimedes made thew first catapult along with setting the bar high for physics.<br><br>Albert Einstein- Albert Einstein made many theories dealing with math and science since both topics are practically related. Maybe the most common theory Albert Einstein came up with was E=mc2.<br><br>Alan Turing- Alan Turing used statistical analysis.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I researched<br>Albert Einstein</div><div>Archimedes</div><div>Galileo Galilei<br>&nbsp;Srinivas Ramanujan<br><strong><em>Srinivas Ramanujan</em></strong>- Discovered by mathemagician Srinivas Ramanujan, <strong>1729</strong> is said to be the <strong>magic number</strong> because it is the sole <strong>number</strong> which can be expressed as the sum of the cubes of two different sets of <strong>numbers</strong>. Ramanujanas conclusions are summed up as under: 1) 10 3 + 9 3 = <strong>1729</strong> and 2) 12 3 + 1 3 = <strong>1729</strong>.<br><br></div><div><strong><em>Albert Einstein</em></strong> - contributed&nbsp; his <strong>mass-energy equivalence,</strong> theory of relativity, Brownian motion and <strong>photoelectric effect</strong>. <br>Archimedes- contributed the relation between the surface and volume of a sphere and its circumscribing cylinder. He is known for his formulation of a hydrostatic principle (known as Archimedes’ principle)<br><br><strong><em>Archemedes</em></strong>-&nbsp; to estimate the area of a circle, he constructed a larger polygon outside the circle and a smaller one inside it. He first enclosed the circle in a triangle, then in a square, pentagon, hexagon, etc, etc, each time approximating the area of the circle more closely. By this so-called “method of exhaustion” (or simply “Archimedes’ Method”), he effectively homed in on a value for one of the most important numbers in all of mathematics, π. His estimate was between 3<sup>1</sup>⁄<sub>7</sub> (approximately 3.1429) and 3<sup>10</sup>⁄<sub>71</sub> (approximately 3.1408), which compares well with its actual value of approximately 3.1416.<br><br><strong><em>Galileo Galilei</em></strong> - contributed&nbsp; each swing of a pendulum, regardless of width, takes an equal amount of time to swing between the extremes of its arc. Albert Einstein: He discovered E=mc2, and he said that it is impossible to know that you are moving except if you look at something still. That also means that measurements of distance and time depend on how fast you're traveling. That means if someone the same age as you goes to space for ten years and travels around for billions of miles, he or she will come back looking two years younger than you!<br>3. Archimedes: He anticipated calculus roughly 2,000 years before Newton, and he created the famous catapult!</div>]]></description>
