It helps me connect what I learned in class with all my real experiences in my field placement.

Setting Goals I will learn how to set and reach goals, and how to use feedback from others to keep getting better in my placement field.

Better Communication My Seminar course teaches me how to talk and write in a clear and respectful way with others, which is important in ECE because I am working with parents, co-teachers, and especially the children. An example is my Introduction letter that we submit to our supervisor on our first day of placement.

Thinking/Reflecting About My Work Reflecting on what I did or what I am doing during my placement helps me see what I am good at and what I can improve. Doing all the things that I learn in class in actuality during placement is very important.

Connecting Learning and Work It helps me understand how to take what I learn in class and use it when working with children and with their families. Setting Goals (Standard IV: Professional Knowledge and Competence)

Better Communication (Standard I: Caring and Responsive Relationships)

Thinking/Reflecting About My Work (Standard III: Professional Practice)

It is important because it will help me create a supportive and engaging learning environment by understanding children’s needs, documenting their progress, and using play and inquiry to enhance their learning.

Collaborative Learning I will teach us how to work with children to explore and learn together, encouraging creativity and problem-solving. With this, we can learn how to collaborate with children but at the same time, we can learn together.

Documenting Progress We will learn how to record and share children’s learning experiences through observations, which helps you track the children's development and communicate with their families.

Respecting Each Child It will help us see every child as capable and motivated, supporting their growth and self-esteem. It is important to know that we need to respect each child's skills and capabilities. Fostering a Love for Nature we can learn how to connect different subjects, like Science and Arts, into our teaching to make learning more comprehensive for children.

Play as Learning It also teaches us that children learn best through play. This helps us design activities that make learning fun and effective for children.

Creating a Supportive and Engaging Learning Environment (Standard II: Curriculum and Pedagogy)

Collaborative Learning (Standard I: Caring and Responsive Relationships)

Documenting Progress (Standard IV: Professional Knowledge and Competence)

Creating a Supportive and Engaging Learning Environment (Standard II: Curriculum and Pedagogy)

Collaborative Learning (Standard I: Caring and Responsive Relationships)

The preschool field placement gives me a chance to apply what I've learned in the class with my professors and what are their insights advice and experiences to real-life situations. I am working directly with children, families, and teachers which helps me to connect theory with practice.

The placement provides opportunities to receive feedback from my mentor who has experienced a lot of working with children and families. This helps me grow as a professional, and be a good ECE since mentors reflect on their practice, set goals for improvement, and teach me to do things in actual scenarios.

Applying Theory to Practice (Standard IV: Professional Knowledge and Competence)

Receiving Feedback (Standard III: Professional Practice)

This course is very important because it helps us to build a relationship with the families of the children. Our work would be easier because we could connect with the parents and help each other with the children. Good communication with them will help us know the needs of their children. Also when we build a connection with parents we know what are their cultures and their traditions that can help us understand their children.

Standard I: Caring and Responsive Relationships

Standard IV: Professional Knowledge and Competence

By observing the children we will know their interest and their strength. This will help me recognize each child's growth and how I can help them develop their skills. Also, children come from different backgrounds so we need to use different strategies and approaches on how to help them to support their development.

In this course, we can also learn how to keep a record of the child's development and help track their progress by observing them while ensuring to still respect the child and their families and ensuring their privacy and confidentiality. Observation is my tool and my guide to track children's growth.

Standard IV: Professional Knowledge and Competence

Standard V: Professional Boundaries, Confidentiality, and Consent
