         <title>Proclamation of 1763</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>After the French and Indian War, many colonists wanted to move west to new British territory.  The British government prevented this because it was too costly to protect them against Native Americans.  This led to the Proclamation of 1763, which prohibited settlers from moving west of the Appalachian Mountains.</p>]]></description>

Also these new laws stepped up enforcement of these taxes, because colonists had not followed previous laws. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Colonial protesters gathered outside the Old State House in Boston, which was being used as a tax collectors office, to protest the taxes and rule of the British government.  The protesters threw a ball of ice at the soldiers protecting the Old State House and the soldiers began firing their guns, killing 5 people.</p>]]></description>
