WHERE DO I COME FROM?
Anamaria 9A

Hello! MY name is Anamaria. I realized that in many European countries it is pretty normal to have foreign roots.

I have met a lot of people whose relatives come from other corners of the world and it seems very interesting to me. I actually feel weird when my friends tell me about their origins because they have families which constitute a variety of nationalities. Their grandparents, for example, are migrants or they have origins in aristocratic families.

All these stories made me curious regarding my roots so I asked my parents. I was extremely surprised when found out that I'm a true-born Romanian. At first I was disappointed, but now I feel very special.

Romania was a communist state between the early 1960s and 1989. I'm sure you've heard about Nicolae Ceaușescu. During his presidency, Ceaușescu didn't allow migrants to enter Romania. So this fact could be the reason why many people in my country don’t have foreign roots.

                                                   Where do I come from?
Diana Poenaru 9A
Everybody has their own ancestors. Some of us have the surprise to find out interesenting facts about them, such as: their religion may not be the same as their ancestors and the birth place can be even in another country, far away...
Anyway, it’s a good thing to know something about them. From my point of view, I can tell I’m a lucky person because all my relatives live in Romania except my uncle who lives in Spain. In addition, a lot of them live in the same city as me.
Even though, I don’t have awesome stories about them, it’s nice to know that anytime I can go on a visit to see them.
