Almost every single chapter in the book had the boys conflicting with each other about everything.  Jack and Ralph created more  problems between the two of them, then all the boys together. They caused more problems than solving them. Some some of the boys are scared, some feel powerful, some feel lost, others empty, sad, lonely. They were taken from the rest of society and it would eventually drive them mad.
