After completing this project, I have realized how important it is to educate students about netiquette. Since I grew up with the internet, it was new to everyone. I did not learn internet safety as much as I should have. Considering students today use the internet every day, I think they must learn netiquette. Students today are accustomed to logging in, completing work, or having classes; they may not notice the dangers of the internet. Even away from school students use the internet for games or social media. Educating students about the safe ways to utilize the internet can prevent them from problems.

Before doing my research, I did not consider some of the "do's and don'ts" of netiquette when I was in elementary school. For example, I did not realize that all of our information stays on the internet forever. Although I did not create, post, or comment on anything I regret, I could have done something that I regret because I did not know this information. Making mistakes is a part of life but, as educators, we should inform our students of the dangers of the internet.

My research has strengthened the point that some of the information I learn I will use forever. There is some information from school that I thought "When will I ever need to use this?". Netiquette is a topic that I believe everyone should learn and will use for the rest of their lives. Even when school is over, netiquette can be used in everyone's profession. Emails, calls, interviews can all have an aspect of netiquette incorporated. Remembering and utilizing this information is crucial for people, young and old.

My takeaway from this project regarding what I learned about netiquette is how important it is to be safe on the internet. In today's day and age, the internet is used every day, which is why younger students need to learn how to be safe when using it. Students will be able to use this information being given to them in a school setting and outside of the classroom.

Prior to doing my research, I didn't consider how vital it is to be aware of safety when using the internet. I also did not realize how it can connect to the use of the internet within schools as well as the use of the internet outside of the school. This is especially important to teach students that what they put on the internet can have an impact and stay there forever. Another thing that I did not consider prior to doing my research was how the way that I use the internet can directly affect others. This is also extremely important for students to understand from a younger age due to high rates of bullying when children use the internet. It is important as a future educator to advocate for kindness when using the internet.

My research has confirmed and strengthened my point of view by providing me with information that can be shared with my future students. Netiquette is extremely important for everyone to be educated on and can be used in everyday life.
