For mine, the school-to-prison pipeline is being exacerbated by the presence of police in the schools instead of the school using their own resources. Pasco County itself only reserves the SROs for more serious offenses, but in other districts, the SROs take discipline into their own hands.

The Prison system accumulates more than 2 billion a year from both government subsidies and fines. The war on drugs in the 1970s would establish increased punitive measures taken against drug dealers and users, which would in turn be used to demonize minority groups and disenfranchise them.
