I like reading what others have written...
I feel that (especially as teachers), we are lifelong learners. If we are open to it, we will learn something from our family, friends, co-workers, and our students every single day. I'm looking forward to learning with my fellow college students during this class.

Constellations are made up of stars that are millions or billions of miles away from each other. They don't actually line up the way we've made them line up in constellations. Instead, humans looked at the sky and found meaning in what they saw. Engagement in this class is about taking information from our reading and making connections to our own teaching---connections that perhaps were not explicitly in the text. We will work together to develop ideas and approaches that we can use in our own literacy instruction. It's been very interesting to read posts from teachers who teach all different grade levels and subjects! I'm already learning from these different perspectives.

I have already learned a great amount from my classmates through the discussion board, which has in turn, helped me think deeper about my questioning and responses. We all win.

I chose this image because I believe that teachers are ALWAYS learning. Learning new ways to best teach a lesson, learning new ideas from other teachers, and learning from professional development to implement better practices into our classroom. As a new teacher, I love to learn from other teachers and their experiences. I think this class and through our discussion boards we can learn a lot from each other, and I think that is so important.

I think it is difficult to shift from the "teacher" bubble to the "student" bubble, and even harder to build the relationship section of the diagram through an online platform, but collaborating with each other and actively engaging with each other will lead to deeper understanding of the content - and ultimately, better teaching!

Super job, class! These are some great thoughts and images! I appreciate all of your hard work, thinking, and sharing you do!!!! I find that many times as teachers we don't get to "talk" to each other a great deal. Many of my students love the discussion board because they get to share ideas and learn from other teachers.
